We should change cellphone

Hi,

We live in Canada.

We have a cellphone (galaxy s24) for 2 years. We have to make a decision now to be able to change our cell provider company (Roger): either keep the phone for us and change the cell provider to a cheaper one (will have to pay 300US+tax) OR give back the phone to the provider and buy a new one elsewhere?

What we really like about the S24 is the picture quality. Otherwise, we don't use it for gaming or even streaming. We use it for social media, little browsing, GPS... But especially pictures and videos.

My question ❓ is it better to keep this old one and pay the 300US+tx OR find new or open box (i.e. nothing phone, OnePlus Nord, etc... Which price wouldn't go over 300US)

Thanks.

I'm looking for a budget smartphone.

I am in the market for a phone that has long-term software support as well as performance that can be used for many years to come. I am open to tweaking it to debloat and improve it or downloading a custom rom when it stops getting support.

New iphone

My dad is old and doesn't really need much from his phone. He's iphone and that's not going to change. He needs a new one, but there's no point in him buying the latest model.

So, is there a standout model from the last few years, which was particularly good? You know, one that just got everything right, is still available new and at a reasonable price?

Has anyone tried the Light Phone 3?

I just tested it and wanted to share my thoughts. Would you buy this?

  1. It works well to cut distractions: no social apps, no browser, just the essentials so you’re not glued to a screen.
  2. It’s still practical for everyday life: calls, texts, directions, notes, and a simple camera without the overload.
  3. It’s built to last: repairable hardware, replaceable battery, and long‑term support so you’re not upgrading every year.

should i change my iPhone 13?

Hey, I have an iPhone 13 with a 77% battery health and a broken charging port. Do you think it's worth repairing the port and battery or should I buy a new phone?

Galaxy Z Fold 6 or iPhone 17 Pro: Which would you choose?

Using an iPhone 13 right now and planning to upgrade soon. Torn between Galaxy Z Fold 6 and iPhone 17 Pro.

I like iOS and the Apple ecosystem, but the Fold looks really interesting for productivity, media, and just having a different experience. For anyone who has used both, which one would you pick?

cell phone plan with builtin voicemail "TRANSCRIPTION".

My main phone is a cell phone (an iPhone 16) with Consumer Cellular. I also have a Vonage VOIP account because I don't want to miss calls from old (forgotten) friends that only know that old Vonage number.

Several years ago to control the amount of Spam calls to the Vonage number I changed its options to go straight to Voicemail and those audio files AND THEIR TRANSCRIPTION, would be forwarded as a text message to my cell phone and my email address. That quickly killed the Spam, I now get almost no calls there at all.

With so little use I'd like to stop that $22/month Vonage bill but I don't want to lose that Voicemail Transcription which quickly lets me know of callers that bothered to leave me a Voicemail.

Are there any similar options I could use instead of my Vonage setup?

Phone 2026 Release

Considering we're almost halfway throught the year, what flagship level phones do you think are currently the best? And based one the rumors for upcoming phones for the rest of the year, what would be the top 5 phones by the end? Just asking for speculation and discussions as I'm planning to get a phone near Christmas and wanted to know what the best 5 are currently and how it may change by the September or October.

I need a new phone.

So right now, I have the Samsung Galaxy A16, buying this phone was a MISTAKE, anyway I just need a new phone and this time I will research ts thoroughly and then buy it. I will buy it in March 2027.

My budget is ₹22000 or about 230 dollars.

Okay here are the non negotiables, I need atleast 8 GB RAM, anything more than UFS 2.1 storage and 30W+ charging. 128 GB storage is fine.

I prioritize max specs and as long as the cam is better than A16, its fine.

The top contenders rn are:

Realme Narzo 80

Infinix GT 20

IQOO Z11

Do I deserve to buy a new phone?

Deserve ko bang bumili ng Iphone? Kasi I'm doubting myself na kailangan ko ba 'to because I purchased this phone (the one I'm using right now) when I was grade 7 and now grade 12 na ako pero hindi pa rin ako nabili ng new phone. And may ipon naman na ako at tinanong din ako ng ate't kuya ko kung anong iphone ang gusto kong bilhin, so I said "Iphone 16" they agree naman and baka dagdagan din nila yung ipon ko. So deserve ko ba?

Need a good phone for 5.5 years in med college

So I am asking this on behalf of someone because there are a lot of people who can search and stalk my account and say this is fake and I am a student , so truth is this

Now he said that his mother is going to buy him a phone of 80k and father ipad pro M5 , he is also from like a middle class family and isn't that rich to afford ipad pro twice so he is going to buy a good phone in lesser price , like lesser than 80k like 40-50k and use the rest of money to buy college material and bigger storage for the ipad pro like the base has 256 so he will get the 520gb, does he need a laptop??, if he can you tell what will better to do here he already has ipad A16 but wants to upgrade and hates air

He is interested in making animations, research in medical College and like opening a yt channel etc, he will.do this in the ipad is it enough

He needs a decent camera and Android software because of its freedom but loves ipad 🥀🥀so which phone will be good?? He already saved like 25k but isn't going to use that

Mid-range not AI centered?

Hey so i was looking to buy a new phone but everyone i find seems to be very AI centered.

Looking for prices around nothing 4a or pixel 9a.

Like the nothing 4a seems realy nice but the side button dedicated to AI is realy throwing me off. What other options are there?

Oppo find x9s - interesting upcoming launch

Expected specs so far -

  • 6.3" 1.5k 120hz oled
  • mediatek dimensity 9500s
  • hasselblad cameras
  • wireless charging
  • periscope zoom
  • big silicon-carbon battery
  • slim + compact body

Ngl, the compact part is what caught my attention most. almost every flagship now feels like carrying a TV remote in your pocket. this one actually looks usable with one hand while still keeping flagship hardware.

also really curious to see the dimensity 9500s in action because mediatek’s recent flagship chips have been strong with thermals and sustained performance. feels like the flagship chip race is getting way more competitive now...

If Oppo prices this smartly in India, this could be a serious alternative to Samsung/Apple compact flagships

I HATE my Samsung 26+ the picture quality is garbage

I had a Pixel 7 Pro and the pictures were crisp even with flash and movement I mostly take pictures of animals so that's is very important! I decided to get a Samsung because in the past their picture quality was amazing but the s26+ is garbage all the pictures are blurry and blue I messed around with the settings more than I ever have on any phone and the pictures are still shit. I downloaded the Samsung camera assistant app and it didn't change anything.

What do I do? Has anyone been able to get good pictures? Am I stuck with a shit phone?

I break my phone about every half a year, even with a case. What phone/case should I get?

I prefer android over apple but I'll buy anything at this point as long as it will hold up.

EDIT: I'm NOT asking for suggestions on how to be less clumsy. Just suggestions on a phone and case please <3

Whats wrong with POCO

My nothing phone got stolen while boarding a bus in delhi recently. Big billion days were not close so i thought i should wait for them. I baught a poco m7 plus to use till then. This phone cost me 14000 and it sucks. It lags even while using basic apps like whatsapp, insta and g pay. It adds to my daily frustration. Why cant they provide a decent phone.

Now thinking of getting a new phone. Big billion days are still far and now i will have to put in extra money just because poco could not perform things well which my xolo phone was able to back in 2016.

Should i just buy a new phone without waiting for bbd? Which one should i go for pixel or i phone?

Will you be interested in a not so smart smart phone?

Would you ever consider buying a smartphone intentionally designed to be less addictive?

Not a dumb phone.

Just a clean, smooth phone that:

  • removes unnecessary distractions,
  • reduces doomscrolling,
  • has a calmer UI,
  • helps reduce screen time naturally,
  • and focuses more on essential everyday use.
