Question for my SB Ladies

Ladies with SB, I’m currently in the hospital do a kidney infection PLUS having issues with my bladder refluxing into my kidneys particularly the right one and it’s extremely painful. I have always had reflux issues my entire life but this time is particularly worse. The right kidney is retaining fluid and won’t “drain” out. I have a stent in my left ureter and have had it for about 14 years and rarely have issues with that side. They’re talking about possibly placing one in the right side tomorrow as well. I am 16 almost 17 weeks pregnant. I know this is kinda niche and a longer shot, but have any of you lovely ladies happened to have this procedure or honestly any procedure while pregnant? How did it go and how did your baby handle it? They’ve reassured me it’s safe but this first time mama can’t help but still worry

Bladder Augmentation Surgery

This is a question specifically for the people here who have had bladder augmentation, more specifically the ones who they used bowel/intestine to rebuild your bladder. Backstory/information: I had my augmentation repair done at age 12 and I am now 28. I have always had issues with the mucus being present in my bladder but never had issues with self cathing until recently. I just spent 10 days in the hospital with a kidney infection/uti combo and am also 15 weeks pregnant. Between the two of those there’s been an increase in mucus clots that ended up causing troubles with the self cathing and I was unable to fully void my bladder so they put in a foley. I never had to have one before and now they’ve sent me home with it as well until I can see a urologist which who knows how long that will take.
So my questions/concerns are 1) has anyone experienced sudden increase in mucus production or being present? 2) is there anything other than extra hydration and the frequent irrigation with sterile water that can help reduce this? And 3) will having the foley weaken my bladder and cause long term problems if they keep it in too long? This all feels very niche but I’m praying anyone here may have been through similar and can help me out a little.

Spina Bifida and Chiari Malformation diagnosis

Hey all, I’m a 28 year old female with spina bifida myelomeningcele who just found out I have Chiari Malformation type 1. I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing debilitating migraines/head aches than have landed me in the emergency room on at least 3 occasions in the past 2 weeks. They were concerned with the increase of head aches that little to no pain medication help so they did a CT Scan and MRI where they found a malformation that falls within the threshold of Type 1 Chiari Malformation. I’ve read that type 2 is pretty common in adults with Spina Bifida but I’m just seeking any advice or tips for the blinding pain? I can’t get out of bed when they flare ups are bad, let alone function or go to work. I can’t afford yet another diagnosis that prevents me from living my life, literally or figuratively. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi there! I’m a first time expectant mom, I am 28 years old and 9 weeks pregnant as of today, and I have Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. I am fairly lucky because I am able to walk and do not have hydrocephalus, but I do have a neurogenic bladder/bowels and self cath. I honestly never knew I could even conceive between having SB and fibroids I just never so much as had a “scare” so this was a huge surprise but I am over the moon excited. I’m just wondering if there’s any other SB mommies here who would be willing to share their pregnancy/birth experience? From what I’ve read I will most likely have to have a c-section with general anesthesia due to not being able to have an epidural or spinal tap. I have so many questions and I know I can call/message my OB (I don’t see them until next month) but I’d also just like to possibly talk to someone who has had a similar experience as I am going through.
