What would you say the aesthetic is to OTGW?

I love and naturally gear towards things like crows, ravens, black cats, black fences, swirly trees, purple skies, full moons, and big Victorian castles. However, I love the aesthetic of otgw with a more whimsical take with mushrooms, frogs, autumn leaves, etc. but I feel like otgw is that aesthetic paired with the one I just mentioned earlier. (Full moons, crows, etc.) so, what would you say that type of aesthetic is? Mushrooms and frogs and sunflowers, but a bit (if not completely) more elegant and gothic, as well as very vintage and mystical. Lmk your thoughts in the comments!

I’m a storyteller, but not a WRITER.

Ever since a little kid, I’ve been crafting stories in my head since then. It’s always been easy to just daydream of things visually and cinematically. Much later, I’ve only just taught myself how to really WRITE my imagination into a story just by reading fanfiction alone. Now, I can still craft stories, but every time I write, I either freeze up, close my laptop, or my writing either stacks too many ideas or lacks clarity. That’s mostly because I have the imagination, because I’m more of a storyteller than a writer. But I wanna become a writer. I never really know how to but my ideas into actual prose, because every time I “write” my ideas they just come out in spoken form: brain dumps or rants or just planning. For example, if my idea is “a girl who finds a wolf in the woods while on her way to grandmas house” then I wouldn’t know how to actually write it unless I just plan everything in the first act in spoken form, basically just ranting the story in written text, or just explaining what’s happening instead of just using show don’t tell or doing actual PROSE. So, my point is…how do I WRITE? When you watch a movie you’re basically doing less work because you get to see what’s happening. In a book, you have to do most of the work by imagining things that are already visually presented in the book left for you to mentally finish. How do I basically just put my imagination on paper, but it’s a story, instead of just journaling my ideas?

What I’d argue now that Jax is confirmed trans.

Since now Jax is confirmed as trans, I’d argue…

Jax is still the same character.

That doesn’t make her now a “girlboss” or justifiable. (I’ve heard a few friends of mine say that she was a ‘girlboss’) the reason Jax as a character is so compelling and interesting (and a fan favorite among many) is because Jax is genuinely just a jackass. But the trauma of her past isn’t less saddening or heavy as I’ve seen it when ep 9 premiered. It also doesn’t justify any of her actions. I say Jax is the same character, because as a woman myself I feel it’s pretty unfair (and just benevolent sexism) when women in media are reduced to girl bosses or empowering, meanwhile men get to be wildcards, be messy, villainous, or experience jealousy. I’d definitely say also her treatment towards gangle and zooble (as the rest of the cast) were also terrible. That’s all I’d say, let me know what you think in the comments!

I feel like a copycat. Anyone have advice or a similar experience?

Ok, so, I’ve been (and still am) OBSESSED with this Jekyll and Hyde adaptation/retelling in particular called: “The glass scientists”, and I first discovered it during the process of trying to make my OWN adaptation and trying to see how others took the novella and twisted it to a new tale. I fell SO in love with the original novella that when I stumbled upon this one adaptation in particular, I fell DEEPLY in MORE love with this specific retelling, down to every single detail possible. And it was just this retelling alone specifically. I love it so much, that I’m working on 7 different AUs I wanna post on Ao3 and even two of my original books that are heavily inspired. In one of them, it’s a sci fi dystopian futurism version with the mc’s being both separate female versions of Jekyll and Hyde, with their personalities and color palettes matching, and the duality aspect retaining but they feel like separate women. But I feel like a copycat because everything about the comic (basically everything) that I loved so deeply was added in my first couple drafts. Any advice/similar experiences?
