Engraver for sterling silver jewellery (very small)
Hi there,
I have a small business where I make sterling silver charms. I'm looking to personalise some of them with small engravings of names/ dates etc.
The size of the letters will need to be around 0.5mm in height, as the charms are pretty small.
It would be great if the engraver could also work on other materials like wood and leather.
I've spent hours researching engravers online, asking chatgpt and watching YT vids, but I can't seem to get a clear answer.
I'm currently looking at the Xtool F1 Ultra, as it has two lasers, and claims it works on most materials. It also looks very user friendly (in terms of software and all in one enclosed unit) for a novice like me. However I've read elsewhere that the 20W fiber laser might not be powerful enough to engrave properly. I've seen very little proof online that the F1 Ultra does a good job on sterling silver and therefore I'm hesitant to dive in a buy one.
I've also seen that the Xtool F1 (non ultra) can lightly mark silver. Would this be suitable as a starting point, or something that would satisfy a customer wanting a personalised silver charm? Or should I steer clear?
Finally I looked into more powerful fiber lasers, 30W+. These intimidate me as most look like they'd need an enclosure and ventilation setup. Possibly something that might be a bit overkill for my small Etsy shop?
Sorry for the long brain dump. Any help would be massively appreciated. Just looking for something relatively affordable and easy to use - if that exists
Thanks
Ben
