Hi everyone. I picked up a some plants from a nursery yesterday and after getting home the pupping on some of them looks unsual. The ones in question I have isolated, and all had some mealy bugs which at some point which were treated. There were hundreds of healthy plants around these guys as well and there were only a few of the old man cactus pupping like this. I just wanted to be cautious, It looks like this was just some pest induced pupping because i dont see the “pups on pups” disease state… i just see alot of pups, and some of the melocactus pups have very small but clean pups. Also not sure if melocactus can pup like a copiapoa lol.

Edit: spoke to the nursery and he says its not broom, and that he sees them go back to “normal growth” after using commercial grade insecticide. Not sure how much i believe it but it could be possible. Hes happy to exchange the plants as well which ill probably just do to be safe.

Found these things on fb marketplace for a nice steal as the gentlemen was going out of town for a few months. Got them re potted now, but is it normal to see a monstrose arm coming out of a crest like this with TPMC? I also saw it had 1-3 longer spines on the bottm, like a peruvianus. Just wasnt sure what this really is lol. Thanks
