Need tire upgrade advice for comfort on bad roads (Honda Amaze 2020)

I drive a 2020 Honda Amaze S (base model) that currently has the stock 175/65 R14 tires and has done about 32,000 kms.

Lately, I’ve been feeling that the ride quality has become quite harsh. Bad roads, bumps, and potholes are clearly felt by the passengers inside the cabin. Because of this, I’m planning to upgrade the tires with an absolute focus on plush ride quality and maximum comfort.

Here is my usage and requirement breakdown:

  • Driving Conditions: Mostly driven in Mumbai city (lots of bad roads/potholes) with occasional highway runs.
  • Expected Usage: I’ll be driving around 20,000 kms over the next 5-6 years.
  • Longevity: I plan to keep this set of tires for about 7-8 years if they can safely last that long. High mileage/kilometer life is not a concern for me at all—comfort is the absolute utmost priority. I also don't care if the fuel efficiency drops slightly.

My Dilemma:

I am looking to upsize the tires to get a thicker sidewall to cushion the Mumbai potholes. I am currently confused between:

  1. 175/70 R14 (Keeps the same width, but increases sidewall height directly for more cushion).
  2. 185/65 R14 (Wider tire for better grip, and naturally adds a little bit of sidewall height compared to stock).

Which of these two sizes would offer the best comfort for my specific use case? Also, what rubber compound or specific tire models (Michelin, Continental, Yokohama, etc.) would you recommend for the softest, most comfortable ride?

Thanks in advance for the help!
