Need laptop suggestions – ₹60–75K budget | Development + heavy multitasking

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a brand-new laptop and would appreciate some recommendations.

My requirements

- Budget: ₹60,000–₹75,000

- Absolute max: ₹80,000 if the upgrade is genuinely worth it

- New/sealed only — no refurbished, renewed, used or open-box

- RAM: 16GB minimum

- Storage: 512GB SSD minimum

- Battery: 50Wh+ preferred; 55Wh+ would be ideal

- Release: Preferably 2025 or newer

- Display: IPS preferred, good colour coverage if possible

- Weight: Preferably not too heavy

- Dedicated GPU is not required

My usage

This is mainly a work/development laptop, not a gaming laptop.

I regularly use:

- VS Code

- Visual Studio

- SQL Server / database tools

- Multiple Chrome/Edge tabs

- Teams and other work applications

- General heavy multitasking

I want something that can handle these workloads smoothly for several years.

What I'm considering

I've mainly been looking at Lenovo and HP, but I'm open to other brands if there's a significantly better option.

One model that was suggested to me was:

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9

- Intel Core Ultra 5 125H

- 16GB LPDDR5X

- 512GB SSD

- 16" WUXGA IPS

- 100% sRGB

- 300 nits

- 57Wh battery

- Around 1.8–1.9kg

However, I can't seem to find the 16GB/512GB configuration at the previously mentioned ~₹66K price, so I'm looking for currently available alternatives.

I'm also wondering whether I should consider a MacBook Air instead. The battery life/build quality is attractive, but I'm concerned about compatibility with Visual Studio and SQL Server.

What would you buy?

If you had this budget and workload, what laptop would you choose right now in India?

I'm particularly interested in:

  1. Best performance/value option

  2. Best battery-life option

  3. Best overall option for development

  4. Whether a MacBook Air makes sense for this workload

Please suggest specific models/configurations, not just the laptop series.

Bought an LG front-load washing machine – should I keep or cancel the ₹2,149 resQ extended warranty?

Hi everyone,

I recently ordered an LG 9 kg front-load washing machine (FHB1209Z4B) from Reliance Digital for around ₹37k.

They added a 1-year resQ extended warranty costing ₹2,149. Customer care told me it’s optional, but when I tried to cancel it, the store said they can’t remove it now.

I’m now wondering whether I should just keep it.

My concern is not the price — ₹2,149 for one extra year is acceptable to me. My concern is the service experience. I’ve seen many mixed/negative reviews about resQ, where people say claim handling is slow or difficult.

On the other hand, if something fails in the 3rd year (PCB, pump, door lock, etc.), the warranty could be useful.

What would you do in my situation?

Keep the resQ plan for peace of mind?

Fight to cancel it?

I already mailed them about cancellation as I am not ok with this.
