Dremel time!

Dremel time!

Thanks u/lockFumbler for pointing out this trick. I mean I still havent opened it, but I do feel like I’m getting a more positive feedback now I’m tensioning on a normal disk rather than a butterfly disk.

I think I have felt a positive set in at least two disks, being able to set them apart from false sets. But that still leaves quite some disk that need manipulating to the right spot. Not there just yet, but I’m sure -if I keep at it for long enough- it will open. Probably not today, might not even be this week. But I’m going to crack it!

(If not, I’ll be back and going to ask you all for help again)

Double D Mail call

I think I’ll need a lot of patience trying to pick this lock. Not only is it a disk detainer, it’s also a red belt… nice first DD eh… I’ve watched a bit of YT, think I understand what to do but getting the feel for it is step two.

Mole’s attempt at the #OneHandedChallenge

Thanks for your post earlier today u/612PickBreaker I couldn’t resist from trying it myself too.

u/Lockpicking_Engineer thanks for setting up this fun one handed challenge. I’ll look forward to seeing more of yours.

Finally got around to etching the stainless steel ring on my No. 10

Years I’ve had this opinel. And I bought ferrochloric last year to blacken and stonewash the ring to match the aesthetic of the whole knife. Only today did I decide to finally do it. And I’m very happy with how it turned out. Probably as close to the blade’s patina colour as I’m going to get it. Plus that patina changes continuously.

Hope you like my mods.

Is using a cheat sheet frowned upon?

In my journey to brown I’ve been working on this new style of lock: unsprung sliders. Instead of you just pushing it one way and the spring pushing it back, with this you’re in charge of both directions of movement. Once the sliders align the sidebar can be depressed and the lock is unlocked (this one has two sidebars)

In order to get a grip and feel for how it worked and should feel -after about 1,5hrs of picking- I decided to gut it and make a cheat sheet. It wasn’t the easy blueprint kind of measured out version, but just a scribble on a piece of paper to roughly indicate if I was kind of in the right place or completely off the mark.

Just wondering what you guys think of this and if you think I could/should use it in a belt application or not.

As for the video; I decided to go a bit more in depth on the locks mechanism cause you don’t see them that often and thought you guys might enjoy the nerding about the inner works.

My Dual-Hand Challenge application video

Spicing it up a bit with the dual hand challenge!

Never even attempted left handed picking, let alone a dimple lock that needs to be float picked.

Sadly my first attempt was over 10 mins, would’ve loved it to be the true first time using my left hand. This is my second try though, so still very surreal and as if I’m learning to pick from scratch again.

Thanks @PeatnRepeat for instigating this challenge! I really enjoyed it.

The M&C Minos. The super difficult lock that ended up being quite doable.

Isn't it funny how you really struggle with a lock to begin with? Completely losing it cause you just can not understand what's going wrong and then when you get it you're like.. Oh...

This lock was just that for me. I couldn't get my head around the slider, kept thinking about false gates and stuff (which are a non-issue on this lock) Tried to progressively pin it and all.

Turns out that once you get the pins set it turns a lot further than I was expecting. I kept getting into a decent false set and started on the sliders, some would bind others wouldn't making me think I was in a false gate trying to get it past it (which actually put it in a false gate) I just needed to properly set the pins... You know, the kind of lockpicking I've been doing since day one, but so focussed on the "exciting sliders" I was negligent about them.

I hope I've learned my lesson...

Been a while, but I’m back!Purple M&C Minos is defeated.

M&C Minos, 6 dimple pins, 5 sliders - Purple belt.

A couple weeks ago i struggled with this one, doing progressive pinning but to no avail. Went onto the discord and got some tips but just didn’t get around to picking any locks, till today. And I figured I’d just sit down with the full lock, pretend to know nothing about it except the tips I’d received and presto! Got it. Total time was about 26mins with other attempts, final attempt was roughly 7mins.

I will be posting the video (for my LPU scorecard) later on my YT.

Kijk.

Fijne zondag allemaal!
