I quit cold turkey at the beginning of the year. I was pretty dependent on it, drinking at least 400mg a day. I wanted to quit for a month to see how I did, but I ended up pushing it to three, and then six, etc bc I felt so much better.

To anyone going through it right now: I had drank coffee basically every single day since middle school (as someone who is currently in their mid 20s). So roughly 10-12 years of daily use, multiple cups a day, plus energy drinks when I got older. I say all that to say: I’ve only just recently broken through the withdrawals entirely. I sleep like a baby every single night, I don’t crave it anymore, I wake up feeling more energized, I fall asleep more easily, etc.

Stick with it! I got discouraged from seeing posts that were like “I quit for two weeks and my life is 1000x better” because my withdrawals were much more drawn out than that. But once you reach the other side it’s so worth it. Everyone has their own timeline

Hey team, I started no caf this year so I’m just over 4 months into my detox. I’ve had maybe 3-5 cups of decaf coffee in that span, only when I’m desperate (I feel like even just the flavor of coffee gets me going mentally, although ik there’s still like 5-10 mg in a cup).

I hit a good patch of sleep finally the last two weeks where I felt like I was finally sleeping through the night and not waking up sporadically from withdrawals. I’ve been exercising, eating healthy, avoiding screen time before bed, etc. so I’ve put a lot of effort into maximizing my sleep.

But the past few nights it’s done a 180 and I’m back to waking up sporadically, taking a while to fall asleep, etc, and without caffeine it’s been hard to deal with. Is this normal for anyone? I haven’t changed much if anything about my routine or rules for sleep, I’m just wondering if hitting a second wave of withdrawals has happened to anyone else at this stage.

My roommate is my best friend, we’ve known each other since kindergarten and now live in a new city together. And honestly in every aspect outside of this recent development, we’re great roommates. We both clean, we both get the common grocery stuff without being asked (toilet paper, hand soap, etc), we’re both mindful of each other’s boundaries, all that stuff.

He started seeing a girl around October, and over the past month or two she’s been coming over to our place minimum 4x a week, often overnight. Obviously, I’m happy for him that he’s found someone, and in his defense I will say she is nice and genuine. I have no qualms with her character.

That being said, I find her very obnoxious at times. She is loud, specifically the type of loud where she thinks it’s a personality trait. She has a “random=funny” sense of humor that I find very grating. She is attention seeking in group settings. Again, I think that at the end of the day she is nice and seems genuine and well-intentioned, so I don’t want to rag on her for no reason, but as someone who is pretty laid back and relatively chill (not chill like cool, chill like just not super animated personality-wise), being around her for too long seriously drains my battery.

I also want to clarify that it’s not like they take over the apt. 90% of the time they just chill in his room, maybe come out together to make a meal or something, and very occasionally take the living room to watch a show, but I def still use the common spaces more.

I’m just trying to decipher whether it’s justified that I can still be annoyed by how often she’s over. It’s not jealousy or anything like that. I’ve dated girls before and still never had them over to my place that consistently. I just feel sometimes like I live with two roommates. Also, the fact that they’re almost always over here and so rarely at her place has to mean something right? I’m sure her roommate wouldn’t like if my roommate was over at their place that often.

Am I wrong? And how do I tell him that I’m not trying to step on their toes, but that I’d appreciate if she wasn’t over so often?

I have to say, I’ve heard this show is incredible so many times, and I’ve finally sat down and started watching it recently. I just watched the s2 finale “Funhouse” yesterday, and I am in shock and awe of it. It might be the best tv episode I’ve ever watched.

Spoiler for s2e12: >!when Richie got offed by Janice, it was satisfying, but I was confused in the moment because if anything, I was expecting the season to end with a showdown between Tony and him. I was wondering what the finale was going to wrap up or introduce to set up the next season. Maybe a different member of the Aprile family is introduced with an eye on Tony for vengeance? Maybe Janice ends up being evil, like Livia at the end of s1?!<

Everything from the score, to the acting, to the slow burn of the plot of this episode blew me away. The dream sequences threw me off at first, but I knew they were going somewhere. >!When Tony gets in the clown car w Adrianna, Chris, and Furio, and asks, “Where’s Pussy,” the dots started connecting in real time, between that and Silvio saying “the real threat is still here” (or something to that effect), and Tony having the dream about shooting Paulie but waking up and still feeling sick.!< It is so masterfully done by the writers and the actors.

Anyways, I know I’m a bit late on the ball here, but I had to come to this sub and post my love of this episode. Im sitting here at my desk on Monday morning after watching it yesterday, and all I can think about is how weird but spectacular that episode was.

Can’t wait for s3 and beyond. Starting this show was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. At the end of this, it may be above BB for me (but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there).
