Value of sight reading?

I'm 80 years old. I played simple guitar for decades but physical limitations made it less and less enjoyable. I'm now trying self-taught piano, with great enjoyment. I will likely never play for anyone else, and my intention is to learn my favorite songs and play by memory.

The guitar required no music reading because the chords were all I needed from music books. The piano is different of course.

My practice has been to tease the melodies out from the dots on the staff, memorize the keys, and practice still I can get some

Kid Parties now?

I'm old so things I see now get to me.

My sister was telling me that her daughter (my niece) gave a birthday party for her seven year old daughter, to which she invited eight of her school class friends. 32 people showed up. Parents, (even couple grandparents), siblings, sitters and who knows what other random people, and stayed for cake, drinks and games. My niece was nonchalant; "That's how it is now", she says. Really??

I bought a one kilo bag of the 100% Arabica from Amazon. It wasn't quite as good as my local roaster but I still thought it was very good, and it cost less than half as much.

I got my second bag today, and noticed an interesting detail. My first was labeled as being roasted and packaged in the US. It had a roast date of 2-22-2026 and a best-by date of 12-20-2028.

The bag that came today had the same best-by date, but omitted the roast date. But it was labeled as having been roasted and packaged in the EU.

I had previously seen complaints here that the Lavazza beans now being sold here were inferior for having been roasted in the US. Apparently both are available here, but I figure the product actually delivered will be random.

As you were.
