What are your favourite 4-8 kms walks in Toronto

I was asked about walks in that km range I would recommend about 4 weeks ago but I ended being away for a bit and never answered them. Now I am back I thought it would be an even better idea to see what others would suggest. It a distance that most people are comfortable with as well.

Saturday night walk, 30.85

It should read 30.85 km's

My wife had plans with her sister so I had nothing to do. At firs I thought about going to Taste of Lawrence but it get really crowded and I was not in the mood to be in crowd in this heat. Then I thought I might try and catch some of the Beaches Jazz Fest. I ended taking the long route to get there and walking more than I had planned.

I started at Victoria Park Subway, from there I headed down to RC Harris Water Treatment plant and then over to Jimmie Simpson Park for the Jazz Fest. I was a little late so I only caught a few songs by the final act and I enjoyed what I did catch. I wanted to see what the pedestrian only section of Church St. was like so ended swinging through there.

I thought if I could pull off a 15 km with some luck tonight but once I got going my legs felt fine so I kept going.

I have added the stats this time and I will put where the photos were taken. Part of the map has been cropped off since it shows where I live so the last few kms are missing from it.

Shoes: Nike Pegasus for this walk.

Water consumed: 6 Litres and a can of a popular cola with my two cheeseburgers.

Beautiful night for 41.56 km walk

I left the house last night around 6:30 pm with no plans in mind. I ended going to Long Branch GO station and then made my way from there. I headed through Marie Curtis (I have corrected the name) Park and then west for a bit into Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area in Port Credit. I turned around and headed east homeward after Lakview Conservation area came to dead end.

I was going to call it a night 2:30 but I after I grabbed a Hot Sausage off a hotdog cart and can of pop I decided I would keping going until the Subway or LRT opened. I ended up making my way to Leaside Stn. on Line 5.

I know why I usually do these longer walks in the other direction than the way I did today. The final 10 km were on Yonge St. and that is mostly uphill. I was up since 5 am yesterday morning as well so it made a bit more challenging,

Night Stroll with my wife

My wife and I go out a couple of nights a week for a stroll together. We go out for two or so hours and take our time. I prefer evening walks in the summer since they are usually more pleasant as not so hot and quiet enough we can chat we stroll. I don't use my app but we do about 4-5 km in the two hours we are out and I enjoy the slower pace.

It is part of Don Mills Trail but mostly some its offshoots that I can access easily from my house. I did some of this trail in the daytime but on a longer walk a day ago.

We are looking for new banner photos for the subreddit!

ON pause for now! I am not going to be around for a bit so I won't be here to help run this. I apologize, we can talk about starting it again up when I get back. I hope everyone enjoys the next few weeks!

Please if you want your photo to be used as a banner make it needs to be 1072 x 128 px.

Photos to be used for the icons can be any size as we will be cropping out just centre of the image.

We change the banner for the subreddit on rare occasion so we are looking for submissions from members so we can change it a bit more often. I think depending on the amount of submissions that we receive that we can rotate them among the submissions we get.

The final image size should be 1072 x 128 px of anything you feel would make a good banner.

We are also looking for images as well to use as the room icon. Icon photos should have an image that can be cropped into circle like the Toronto Man currently used as the rooms icon.

Images should be room friendly and from one of your walks anywhere in Toronto.

We have allowed images in replies now. You can just hit rich text editor in replies and you should be able to post an image.

PLEASE put where you took the photos also, thank you!

Long way to the Library (11 km)

Wanted to go browse the library for any new books they may have in so I decided to take the long way on this gorgeous day.

Map of me inside the library best I can do today including the underground section of it.

24 km Saturday night walk

It was a beautiful night out so I decided to grab my DSLR, 30 mm lens and slowly meandered and took a few photos.

Late night emergency chocolate cake

I was talking to my wife saying how it would be nice if we could have some chocolate cake with a coffee and as soon as I said it I could taste the cake. The problem is there wasn't any chocolate cake and it was already 9pm. I just needed a piece of chocolate cake and knew I had stuff around to make one. I started just after 9 pm and by 10:50 I was sitting down having cake and a coffee. It was the cooling time that kept me waiting so when it was ready I slapped it together without care about looks. It was well worth the work.

I followed this recipe

My Maurice Richard signed puck

Going through some of things and I came across this about an hour ago. I met him at dinner over three decades ago with people we both knew. We ended up talking for several hours he took my address and mailed me this and a photo. I think my son has the photo need to find out. Thought I would share it with you all.

Go Habs!
