Low grade vertigo after IT gentamicin

I had an IT gentamicin shot on 7/17. Initially I felt pretty normal. Last week I felt very mild dizziness building up. Yesterday I developed more noticeable dizziness with a near constant subtle vertigo (sense of movement). Its not nearly as bad as my prior vertigo attacks. I am not nauseated and can walk. But it is very unpleasant. My doctor said it takes 2 weeks for the shot to kick in. I am wondering if this means I will feel even worse as this week goes on. I am planning to go into work today despite feeling dizzy, but I am dreading it.

Travel on a low salt diet ?

Once my disease is a little better controlled I would like to get back to my dream of traveling. I'm thinking about going to Paris or Sicily. It's kind of a bummer that my low salt diet will prevent me from enjoying a lot of the local food. But at least I can enjoy the sights and culture

One option is to get an airbnb and cook for myself. Please let me know what all of you have done

I also read somewhere that cruises are excellent at dietary restrictions. If you tell them you are low sodium they will give you a special menu. Does anyone in this community have experience cruising on their MD diet?

Dog walking after IT gentamicin

I have an IT gentamicin shot scheduled for 2 weeks from now. I currently do volunteer work at my local animal shelter walking dogs (up to 70 lb pit bulls who can pull on leash). Would like to get opinions from people who had this shot about how bad their balance is long term. Will I ever be safe to walk these kind of dogs again?

Update to prior post - surgery did make me worse

I just got an urgent audiogram and compared to my pre surgery audio my hearing is worse. I'm feeling very hopeless right now and mad that I got the surgery . Had sac decompression surgery in April in Boston

I think menieres surgery made me worse

Wanted to get some other opinions.

I have had "cochlear hydrops" since 2018 with initially episodic then permanent 50% low frequency hearing loss, tinnitus (which late developed intermittent pulsatile quality), ear fullness and a vague low grade dizziness. Initially oral steroids helped a lot whenever I had a flair up but over time after a few flair ups my symptoms never went back to baseline. I tried IT steroid shots (not as good as oral steroids), and Dyazide.

In 2025 I had 3 vertigo attacks in the span of a month. To be fair I was not being as cautious about sodium at the time. I significantly limited my diet and added Lasix to my regimen. The vertigo attacks stopped. I saw a menieres surgeon in Boston who told me that I was a good candidate for sac decompression to prevent the vertigo. Even though I was doing well I ended up going forward with the surgery in April 2026. Initially after surgery I felt ok but still noticed the pulsatile tinnitus so I knew it was not a cure.

About 6 weeks later I traveled for a family wedding, ate a few restaurant meals out with family, and unfortunately I also took a bad fall with minor head trauma while we were out on a hike and I tripped over uneven ground. About 5 days after this trip my vertigo came back worse than ever with 3 attacks in a week. I did a course of steroids and felt better but as soon as I tapered off I had another vertigo attack.

I am obviously frustrated because the surgery clearly didnt work and I regret doing it. I am now wondering if I should go down the more destructive / ablative route so I dont have to live with the fear of more vertigo. Would love some opinions.

Is this dog part toller?

I saw this dog on my local shelter's website. Looks a little bit like a toller to me (would be a mix). They are calling her an Australian shepherd but the color pattern doesnt look typical for an Auzzie to me.

Unbiased reviews of Joe Morelle requested

I have seen a lot of posts about disliking Morelle. When I look into the reasoning I'm not sure it's bad enough to justify voting him out. If I'm missing something big please let me know.

Primary election is coming up soon. It's hard to justify voting for someone who I know very little about unless there's a clear reason to do so.

Here is what I found so far

- Rochester-area progressives accuse Morelle of controlling local Democratic politics in an overly aggressive or insider-driven way

In 2020, Monroe County Legislator Sabrina LaMar accused Morelle of trying to pressure Rochester Institute of Technology to discipline or fire her after she appeared in campaign material for his primary opponent.

More recently he was accused of helping push a town council candidate out of a race over petition disputes.

-Accepting money from defense and lobbying interests while criticizing wars

- voting with Republicans on some immigration and law and order bills
