Wegmans & Flock

I know a lot of folks love Wegmans, but just know they're supporting flock cameras- this isn't traffic - this is surveillance and data collection.

Has anyone experienced damp smelling or musty Wegmans paper products like paper towels or toilet paper?

A few times over the last year or two I’ve opened packages of Wegmans choose a size ultra paper towel rolls in both the large and small packs and they have a damp almost mildew scent.

It’s extremely noticeable but my spouse says it’s not that bad and I’m overreacting. I’m sensitive to smells. He says it’s like from being loaded from warehouse to truck and we go through them so fast it’s hardly worth returning to customer service.

Toilet paper happened less often especially when they were individually wrapped. Loose rolls in plastic has occurred twice to me.
I’m just curious if anyone else experiences this?

Pay vs benefits

I've got eight years experience at Wegmans... total. I worked there from 1998 when I was eighteen to 2004, then in 2024 I was rehired. Now, I just got a full time position in the meat department, where I've been the last year and a half.

There's no doubt that Wegmans has some fantastic benefits, even for part timers. The store where I work is also generous. After my father passed, they offered to host and supply food for the repast after the funeral. I declined, as I wanted to have it in an actual restaurant... but still generous. I've seen people who couldn't afford all of their groceries, and the store manager let them have what they couldn't pay for.

The only issue I see is the pay. In a recent company survey that was anonymous, the only real criticism I had was the low wage. My question is, do you all think the positive of the benefits outweighs the negative of the low pay? In 2024, they started me at 15.50 per hour, two years later it had gotten up to 18.00 per hour, and with becoming full time, they gave me a 50 cent raise. So, now I make 18.50 cents per hour with time and a half on Sundays and holidays.

How do you guys think this compares to other companies you've worked for? What's your opinion of Wegmans and how they reward their employees?

Cashier Pet peeves

As a cashier i’m curious as to what are your guys biggest pet peeves with customers? I think my biggest one is when they put the basket at the end of the belt without unloading it.

Am I calling out too frequently?

Hi, I’ve been with the company part time for nearly 3 months, I had to call out on the 27th of last month due to a fever, and now today I’m considering calling out again because i think I dislocated/pulled something in my shoulder at the gym the other night.

I have worked only 6 shifts over the last 3 weeks because I had unpaid time off, so I’m wondering if this is a bad look. My first couple months were solid, but this will be my second call out in only 3 months. I’ll probably just force myself to go in cuz I don’t wan my co workers to hate me.

Closing Cashier Rant

Anyone go from opening shifts to closing all over again? Maybe it's because summer is pretty much over. I hate it here. To think that I trained the new cashiers who are going to get opening shifts from now on hahaha. And here I thought they were getting me to train them because they wanted me to move up or something. I can't even say anything because I need the hours and I don't wanna whine too much but god is it frustrating. I just want to cry.

I found this information guide for Wegmans bulk items from 1992! I never knew this kind of thing was once available at Wegmans

Short staffed

Hey guys so I’m currently writing this from the break room. Does anyone else deal with upper management scheduling SUPER light on days that they aren’t here? I know short staffing is something that all jobs deal with I’m not trying to sound special here I just want some clarity lol. I’ve noticed every time my manager is not here we schedule less and less people and get absolutely slammed on the FE. Any suggestions?

3 days in a row we find something like this on the shelf….

I think customers who do this even once should be banned from all stores. It’s a health risk, money waster, and straight up inconsiderate.

Tasteless Fruit

Bought peaches at Calkins Road. No taste and no juice. They were soft to touch.
I stopped buying nectarines and oranges there for same reason.

Question to the TL at Wegmas

Last week I had a 70 min phone interview to work at Wegmas. With what hours do I give them? I agree to do cashier, produce deportment and dairy deportment. So I was wondering should I call Wegmas HR or the store I applied to hear back and hopefully to do a follow-up. Because what I was looking at in the portal is still in process.

Accounting Coming Around to Check Tills?

When accounting comes around to check our tills and open them, sometimes they open it themselves and at other times, they wait for us to do it ourselves. So, I'm just curious, under what circumstances do they do one or the other? Thanks!

Post Job Offer.

I recently did an interview with wegmans and was offered a position as a part time cashier, and I completed all the steps including the consent to a background check. But what am I supposed to do now?

Really weird culture

Why does everyone that works here pretend like they’re treated like royalty when we’re barely paid better than other grocery store employees, and why does any critical comment about the company get you these looks, you’re still being robbed of livable wages you’re still a retail slave you’re not special.

I got a meeting with a manager for making a remark with another employee about how these fundraisers are only pushed for tax reasons, he went out of his way to report this what a dork, not the first time either but more would be tmi

Edit: good job proving my point yall don’t even wanna be treated better, you should be loyal to a paycheck not a company, they’ll never stop seeing us as cattle.
