So I am trying to buy a house at the moment. I do not want to wire money because it’s a little bit sketchier then just using a cashier check.
So because I want to use a cashier check I transfer a significant amount of money to a large bank. Think one that starts with a country name.
They allowed me download a pdf file showing that I deposited that money from another account. This is needed for underwriting during the loan process.
However, because my deposit was done during the month a current statement. I don’t have the ability to download a statement proving that fund was in my original account. You can do it, but it’s an excel file. That’s not appropriate.
If you call into support they basically say oh have your loan person call in, or send xyz for faxing. That seems like way too much work for something so simple.
So SoFi, you are a 20 Billion dollar company. Why can we not make this simple. If you want your people buying houses making good financial decisions. Then for the love of god make it easier for us to verify funds. This isn’t that big of ask, you can have someone code this so easily. It’s literally the same way you do your month end statement. But have it so you can generate yourself for current balance.
If you think there’s potential for fraud. Then simply give access to your support reps. So they can do it and send it your customers.
Buying a house you’re usually on tight timelines. So this is a must.
