Hip flexors or labral tear?

hi! about 10 months ago I felt a sharp pain in my groins/hip while doing a single leg skater squat that caused my hip to give out. since then it has been constantly achy and flares with pain if I do rotational movement.

recently I’ve noticed that I get a sharp groin pain and catching sensation while straightening my leg during bicycle crunches. I’m wondering if this is more likely to be labral related or muscular from hip flexors or adductors? I do have FAI in the hip as well. thanks!

Should I get an MRA?

about 10 months ago I felt a sharp pop and giving out in my hip while doing a skater squat on tired legs. my hip hurt deep in my groin area for about 3-4 months before it started feeling better.

now 10 months out I’m still having aching in the hip with some clicking but not nearly as much as when it first happened. doing the figure 4 still hurts but I have known FAI on that side. I’m wondering if it’s worth while to get it checked for a labral tear. I don’t want to go through surgery as I’ve done it on the other side and mentally didn’t enjoy it but I also don’t want to let it go and cause more damage or get early arthritis (I’m 26F runner, very active, nurse doing 3 12s).

Bilateral tears

was anyone who had bilateral tears and FAI able to get away wifh only doing surgery on one side?

I had my initial surgery back in March but as I was waiting for it I hurt my good side from all the compensating and I felt a very uncomfortable tearing pain while doing a single leg squat. the pain took about 3 months to calm down and only did so because I was recovering from surgery and doing very little. Now as I’m ramping up exercise again the aching groin pain is returning.

Has anyone gotten away with conservatively managing the second hip without having to give things up? I tried rehabbing it with PT after my initially surgery but it didn’t help.

Arthroscopy with BHD

hi! I had my labrum repaired with FAI correction in early March and was wondering what everyones recoveries look like for those who have borderline dysplasia and got a scope. (my LCEA was 21) I’m a 27F and was ab avid runner prior so I would like to be able to get back to that but haven’t been able to tolerate it still.

overall my recovery has been pretty smooth but I am still having anterior hip/groin discomfort with deep hip flexion or trying to pivot against my bad hip. thanks!

Trouble getting back to exercising

has anyone experienced trouble ramping up their exercise again post labrum repair?

im about 5 months out from surgery and still not able to run or play sports. my main symptom going into surgery was sharp pinching pain in the groin with flexion and internal rotation or any twisting on the leg. the first 3 months post op were very smooth but since then I’ve struggled to make any progress in terms of cardio and I’m still getting the same sharp pinching pains. I’m worried about the possibility of this meaning the surgery didn’t take vs just a lot of inflammation still.

Continued sypmtoms

hi everyone! I’m about 5 months post op from FAI and labral repair. I’m still having the same symptoms from before which were groin pain with squatting, sharp groin pain the knee flexion and internal rotation and pain with turning on the bad leg. is this a normal part of recovery or something I should be concerned about?

Continued pain

hi everyone, I’m a 28F about 5 months out from FAI and labral repair. my main symptom prior to surgery was instability with turning on the leg and a sharp pain with knee to chest and internal rotation but it did not cause much discomfort in day to day activities.

fast forward 5 months and I’m still having the exact same pain with flexion and internal rotation and my hip bothers me more with walking and bending than it did pre op. my surgeon keeps saying it’s just inflammation but I’m worried its more than that since the pain is unchanged if not worse. thoughts???

Cortisone shot for continued pain?

hello! wondering if anyone has gotten a cortisone shot post op for significant pain and stiffness?

im about 4.5 months post op and have had pretty significant stiffness in my hip in all ROM since going back to work at the 3 month mark. I’m about to push passed the stiffness but it causes severe pain very similar to what I felt before the surgery. I also haven’t been able to progress into any type of physical activity due to the pain. my doctor recommended a cortisone shot but I’m worried once it wears off the pain will come right back

Frozen hip post op

has anyone has issues with a frozen hip post op? I’m about 4 months out and have had increasing worse ROM and pain in the hip since going back to work at the 3 month mark.

PT thinks it’s inflammation causing it and that I should get a cortisone injection but I’m not sure I want to jump to getting those at a young age.

Running post op

when we’re you able to comfortably run post op/ what did the return look like?

im 4.5 months out from labral repair and FAI correction. I still get slight pinching pain with squats and a soreness from being on my feet all day but was hoping to start a mild return to run program.

Cortisone for post op pain

has anyone with significant discomfort after labral repair and FAI correction found significant or long term relief with a cortisone shot?

im about 4 months out and have worse pain with daily activities than I did before. my surgeon thinks it could be inflammation but Advil/rest/ice have not been helping. PT is recommending a cortisone shot but I’m not sure if I want to do that if it’s just going to be a bandaid and not fix the cause of the pain

Scope with borderline dysplasia

has anyone with borderline hip dysplasia had a scope for labral repair and had it be successful? I was told I have an LCEA of 21 and has my labral tear fixed but am having lots of pain in my hip still and am wondering if it could be the instability.

Post op issues

looking for some advice !

I’m about 4 months out from labral repair with CAM lesion correction. about 3 weeks ago I returned to work as a nurse (3 12 hour shifts) and since then I’ve had significant pain in my groin and hip to the point where putting weight on it aches within a few hours of starting my shift. i haven’t been able to do most PT exercises and they’ve said my ROM has significantly decreased. they mentioned waiting another week to see if it gets better before reaching out to my surgeon but I’m wondering if it’s not worth it to wait and I should just schedule an appointment- I don’t want to risk messing up the surgery
