I need some music advice please

We have decided to go with Spotify playlists for our wedding, which I will be creating myself but I need a little advice on how to structure the reception playlist.

I was thinking that the beginning of the playlist would start with more fun/dance/party music and then as the evening goes on, slowly transition into some more slower/chilled music instead.

My thought process is that earlier in the evening is when people are going to be in more of a party mode, and we will have kids at the wedding so I figure they'll have a good time (we're going to get them a bunch of glow sticks etc to play with too). And then later on when everyone is starting to wind down, the slower music will be good while people sit and chat etc.

Is this a good way to approach the playlist? How long should each of the two parts go for? (The reception will be about 2-2.5 hours)

Is there any other advice anyone might be able to offer?

Thank you!

EDIT: For context, I have a playlist for dinner already. This will be for after all the 'formalities' are done. It is also a BYO Christian wedding where 30% invited are kids, if any of this helps.

Broken aircon - advice needed

I moved into my apartment in August 2025. The aircon in the bedroom was filthy (whole house was tbh). REA sent someone to clean it in September. Then summer came and when I turned it on, it wasn’t cooling and had a really odd smell so I turned it off after 5 minutes. That was enough to also then leave black dirt/dust marks on the unit itself, which I left to show REA/cleaners.

I bring it up in Jan at my routine inspection. Agent (T) takes photos. Says she’ll talk to the owner. Feb - sends an email saying she hasn’t heard from owner, is following up and will get back to me. She doesn’t.

I send a follow up in April and get an email back from someone else (M) asking if I’ve cleaned the filters. Clearly hasn’t read the previous emails so I have to go through it all again. She doesn’t reply.

I send another email in June and call. To be told that 3 of the 6 agents left the RE in April and they’re still short staffed but someone will get back to me.

End of June I get an email from M introducing me to a third agent (C) and says that C will get back to me after speaking with owner.

It’s now July. Still no updates and I’m now getting my rent receipts from a 4th agent (J).

My lease also finishes on the 25th August, now 5 weeks away. I’ve received no lease renewal, increase, acknowledgment etc. so I assume it’ll default to a periodic lease and I’ll get to keep the rate per week I’m currently on ($390/wk)

I don’t know whether to keep chasing them about the aircon and run the risk of them realising my lease is finished and they can now increase the rent, and have them actually do that. Or whether I just give up on the aircon being fixed, settle for just the ceiling fan through summer and just keep my rent costs as low as possible as long as possible.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Would you ask for a redundancy?

At my job, in the last 12 months, approximately 10 staff have been made redundant and work across the whole business has been quiet.

My workload as part of my job description has dropped off in the last 12-18 months. 12 months ago I started being asked to do other tasks that are not part of my original job description and have required me to learn different skill sets to do those tasks efficiently. Even with the extra work, I still only have enough work to fill 70% of my week.

Staff also haven’t had a pay review in 3 years, and with inflation… it sucks. 8 weeks ago, I asked for a pay review. My direct manager passed it on to the owner of the business. I’ve received no acknowledgment, discussion or response to my review request. But they have still brought up giving me even more work outside the scope of my job description with no review on salary or alteration to my employment contract.

I don’t mind learning new tasks and taking on work to fill my week, but I don’t think it’s fair that they’ve completely ignored my review request, but still expect I’ll just absorb more complex work with no arguments.

At this point, I’m tempted to tell them that I’d be happy to be considered for redundancy when the next round happens. I have about 12 weeks of LSL and annual leave, plus the redundancy pay they’d have to include.

What would you do?

I have a queen size bed and usually only sleep on one side, which leaves the whole other half of the bed vacant for my cat to curl up. However, she insists on sleeping right next to my head, on the very small gap between me and the edge of the bed on my side. Does anybody else else’s cat do this? Does anyone know why she does this? Surely it’s more comfortable on the whole other half of the bed, knowing she won’t get pushed off by accident.

I’m getting married in December, in SE QLD. We’re having an outdoor ceremony and reception so naturally the weather is something I need to think about.

I can’t decide if I should just hire a marquee for the reception area regardless, or if I should wait until I’m a couple of weeks out and have a better idea on whether it’ll rain/storm or not.

Would that be leaving it too last minute to hire one if needed? I don’t really want to spend the money if I don’t need to but I don’t want to get caught in a downpour either.

Did anyone else have this issue? What did you do?
