Selene (Early version)
v1.7 Early release of Selene. She might actually be the first character that I'm able to fully release with very little changes as I'm generally quite satisfied with most of her facial features. I'd still love to hear for more feedbacks from fellow Arisen especially from those who beloved Selene.
So she is relatively straightforward to create in terms of choosing a base head. Which I'm able to identify straightaway (same as Lord Julien). Howeverrr, she has a much more precise makeup game at which it is the most challenging of all characters I've designed so far (just slightly above Mercedes). Including her skin tone and eye features.
One thing I've discovered by looking at most of her fan art is that, pretty much all of the artists has given her a slightly different eye angle, makeup or even skin tone. Yet all of them are able to capture her likeliness, almost flawlessly. Only her concept art follows a different approach, so I took little inspiration from it.
Starting with her skin tone, I first experimented with all of the lightest skin tone there is in the CC. And 1 to 2 of them (although still fairly accurate according to the lightings in the character creation), has a very dramatic alteration in-game (especially blue-ish skin tone under bright sunlight). Luckily I was able to find one that remains relatively consistent under all lightings.
It's easy to see that her eyes are her main feature, mainly being her eyeshadow & eyebrow, other than her unique Goth fashion. I gave her a relatively mystical (magic and mystery) kind of look by choosing type 2 eyes instead of the conventional type 1.
Following to her makeup, there're several art pieces suggests a varying of both blue and purple eyeshadow. For simplicity sake, I just went for a median value of combining both purple and blue. The makeup coverage should be very precisely adjusted so it doesn't look too exaggerated while still remaining true to her original identity.
Her eyeliner and her choice of eyebrows are a bit of my own interpretations, tho technically speaking you could exclude the eyebrows as she barely has any. My goal was to give her a cute/mesmerizing gaze sort of vibe at which combining her current eyebrow, further showcasing her innocent nature.
Another thing that entails this is that the spacing of her facial features should be relatively close to each other, this is in the utmost importance in-between her eyebrows/eyes and nose. Which otherwise would quite easily deviate her from her original identity. Unfortunately there's only one eyebrow type that actually helped enhancing her identity. The rest are either too soft or too dense to help with anything.
Selene will mark the end of my early release for my series 2 creations. After taking most of the feedbacks (at which I will try sharing the progress within this post), I will focusing on improving them further with my own adjustments before finally releasing their sliders to my YT channel.
You can check out my current series 2 creations including Madeleine, Quina and Reynard. Or my series 1 (with sliders already available) including Mercedes & Aelinore with Lord Julien being the next release.
