Porting air into air cleaner?

Never really seen this done before I don’t know if it’s a stupid idea or whatever but here’s what i’m thinking

1973 chevy squarebody sbc 350 with edelbrock headers and avs2 carburetor

I got new headlights put in and they have turn signals built in. Anyways the factory turn signals (orange light below the headlights) i’m not going to use.

I want to funnel air through them into the dual snorkel air cleaner. Is this possible or just stupid or??? Not sure how to go about this. I have an idea though

my friend has a 3d printer that does carbon infused material. I’ll have him make a funnel / port where the turn signal light sits. but how do I connect / do the plumbing to port all of that to the air cleaner ?!!!

Are these a good choice for calipers?

Looking to get some 8” Calipers for my job and I want something that will last me a long time. These are the mitutoyo absolute coolant proof ip67 8” And also is it worth getting carbide tipped or does it really matter? The carbide tipped ones are like $430 compared to these which are $330

Starting my first job as a machinist tommorow

Does this look good to bring for my first day?, I will be the youngest one there. I’m currently a student in highschool enrolled in a career tech program and My teacher helped me get this job.

Starting my first job as a machinist out of highschool. Is there anything else I should add to my toolbox?

Just got a job at this small tool and die shop. They told me I’ll be doing setups and operating all the machines ( Cnc mills and lathes and manual surface grinder and mills) and doing programming with fusion360.

I’ve been inheriting and collecting some tools and putting together a toolbox for my first job.

Is there anything I’m missing that I should get with my first paychecks and upgrade and whatnot?

I made a case for some tools.

Needed a small case to carry around a set of calipers and micrometer and scale. Certainly not the best but It works and does its job I also plan to replace the dividers I tried to do with wood and felt with foam later on.

Made a small case for my machinist tools

Certainly not the best as this was my first case I made. I wasn’t super proud of the felt and wood dividers I tried to do but it works and I just needed something to carry my calipers and micrometer around in.

Looking for a small lathe for hobby projects

Currently in tech school and I love using all the machines and I’d like to get a small bench top lathe for home.

Don’t exactly have a huge budget but I’m looking for one that I can do just about everything on, I want to be able to use a 3 jaw and a 4 jaw chucks and single point threading aswell as collets.

I plan to turn brass alluminum and steel. I think the max size material i’d be working with would be less than 1.5” diameter and max 12” long.

I also want to be able to outfit it with a DRO.

Not exactly sure what’s expensive or cheap for a lathe like this but I’m shooting for under $2500

Student here, Im making a tap guide and Im wondering how I could improve my blueprint.

My plan is to cut the profile out using cnc and center drill each hole. Then use soft jaws and drill and tap each hole on bridgeport as I only have a 10 tool toolchanger.

How would I label the positions for each hole? without it being a huge mess, It’s already a mess with thread notes.

Machined this so I can run 90 psi air tools simultaneously with 40 psi airbrushes, 4x 1/4” air connections on the right side set at 90psi and then there’s 3 1/8” connections for airbrushes on the left side, Regulator in between lets me run 40 psi for airbrushes on the left.

Got a bunch of taps and dies to organize, I want some trays that I can stack in a drawer and organize each by thread size and type like with engravings showing the size Any ideas ?

Student here, Just wondering what your guys toolbox looks like for those that have been in the trade for awhile. Also curious what tools you guys bought that have made things easier.

Show me pctures of your toolboxes in the comments
