[Update] I sewed a Night Before Christmas book! Any recs for other Christmas sewing projects?

I found another Christmas soft book panel and decided to make my kids and my husband and myself stockings. I’ve finished my daughter’s stocking and absolutely love it. The front is quilted with gold thread and the back and inside are a snowman print from Joann’s that I inherited from my late mother - I try to use one of her fabrics in every quilt I make. I’d never worked with piping before and love the result even if it was a pain. The extra touch of gold to go with the quilting and her embroidered name is magical. I also used some decorative stitching in matching thread on the binding around the top for fun. I tried to make it very sturdy so it’ll last her a lifetime. She was also very excited for a second book and was sad I put it away. She’ll be 3 at Christmas so it’ll be super fun to pull the books out in November.

This was from a Hobby Lobby soft book panel. I have ordered a couple panels to make stockings from (replacing the cheap kids ones, making them for myself and hubs). I’d love to figure out what else I can sew to get ready for the holidays.

Bought a starter kit from Target and only 3/6 LEDs work, but I lost the receipt. Is there anything I can do to properly harden the nails? They feel so soft still!

How do you guys get good photos of larger quilts?

I finished my largest ever quilt yesterday and am struggling to get good photos. It’s already been gifted but I’d love to know for future reference. In the first pic I had my husband stand on a chair and hold it, but it’s wider than his arm span and taller than him + chair. In the second pic I laid it on the floor then stood on a chair and lifted my arms to take a pic, then used the skew functions to make it rectangular. I don’t feel like either photo is good enough compared to how it looks irl.

[UPDATE] They made a “nest” (ie stuck a single twig in my storage) in my garage and won’t leave. Can I close the garage at night and when we leave the house so people don’t steal??? What do I do?

[Original post](https://www.reddit.com/r/stupiddovenests/comments/1scgme4/they\_made\_a\_nest\_ie\_stuck\_a\_single\_twig\_in\_my/)

After everyone’s suggestions I removed the nest from the garage since mama hadn’t yet laid eggs. She was MAD but we thought the derp problem was solved. Well, recently we kept seeing one of them aggressively coming into the garage every time we opened it, but checked where they’d made the nest and didn’t see anything so just kept trying to keep it closed more to keep the bird out.

Well, our neighbor was taking out our trash while we were traveling and did some deeper investigating. The derps had made a new nest and hidden it by pulling up a flap of a box lid to hide it from plain sight! Absolute genius derpery! Turns out that was dad aggressively flying in to feed mom and our new grandderps. Garage is now propped open a few inches indefinitely.

⭐️From Texas⭐️ 💛With Love💛

All the hearts were made with scrap fabric from the 2026 and 2025 All Texas Shop Hop and Texas Wildflowers collections. I’m sending it to my mom’s linear time friend who is heartbroken she can’t be at my mom’s celebration of life this weekend. I hope it brings her some much needed comfort.

Edit: link to the FPP pattern if anyone is interested!
