Im aware its not the most desirable look so i personally plan to breed it out further but curious as to if this is what breeders look for? Like would this technically be a success as the pups now also mimic the mothers ‘ difference ‘ ? Btw this is a pup off my first pulled ‘ oddity ‘ from my gen1 batch of seed grown spider plants and ive never bred before this random obsession 🤣 so i just dont know much
Looking a bit like a albuca spiralis to me but its a spider plant seedling😅 wonder if the leaves will stay this tight with age or thicken out.. it survived grow box into single pot though holding onto its weirdness, sooo👀 hmmmmm
Hmmmmmmm maybe this one will survive 😭 the last time i got one that leaned this white it died on transplant hahahaha
The back of both of the leaves following my seed grown spiderplants first stolon has like spine ridges? I cant tell if im having observation bias because ive never looked at the first grown in leaves post a stolon on other plants or if this is genuinely an odd occurrence… Picture 1 is the bigger of the 2 ( age lol ) so its easier to see but you can still kinda see it on the 2nd leaf post stolon too? Its just more edge hugging on that one.. but has anyone else noted this before or?
Excited to see where the new top shoots form, hoping for bushy growth as my goal is legit a cartoon circle top that from the bottom looking up has a whole bunch of crisscrossing branches 🥹 also ignore the LUCKY BOTTOM SHOOTS!! Those are being kept to thicken her base up as they grow out idk why they appeared but im so happy they did.. legit she hasnt been heavy pruned in 4 years, i would selectively remove and pinch off the tops but this level of removal? YEARSSS, ill be sure to post an update when she refills her canopy(:
For now i describe her variegation as either edge favoring or thin silky/spiderwebby lines 🥹 she is only on leaf 9 but she has shown oddity across all leaves since leaf 1, she is a cross between a bonnie with a white midline ( father ) and a standard all green normal leaf shape ( mother ) both spider plants and is only like 3months old? I have it written down in my notes i just am lazy rn for making this post but roughly that old haha.. anyways super excited watching this first gen batch age up and seeing some of my favs become ‘ meh ‘ while some of the early on ‘ mehs but odd enough to keep ‘ are becoming really cool like this one ((:: like even this ones curl style is so pretty !! ( pic 2 )
Been continuing on my breeding program, almost fully finished with my batch 1 of seeds!! Here are a few of my favorite new weirdos that ill be breeding out for gen 2 or 3 depending on when they flower for me haha!!
1- look at its speckles?? Um hello.. it grows in lighter green then slowly darkens and leaves those like circle splotches of light behind🤣 holds in several different lights too??👀
2&3- is crossed with a bonnie so its got curl to it, its unstable though but keeps pulling either full body uneven lines or edge specific lines, either way super fun to watch
4- MAYBE THE BEGINNING OF WHAT COULD BE BRED INTO A HALF MOON VARIETY IF IT HOLDSSS!!!????
5- has uneven full leaf striping lighter and darker green with a standard green body. Its got 0 relation to hawaiian in breeding ( i mean yes same family but hawaiian isnt a direct parent this time ) so the coloration is like reappearing. I like that it has some darker striping too though cause out of literally 4,000 seeds its the only that was darker in striping instead of lighter in striping…
THEN FINALLY WE HAVE NEW FLOWERS STARTING TO COME INNN GEN 2 BREEDING HELLLOOOOOO!!!

ALSO! Do yall see the left side albos in the newest box? Well 21 of 22 of those seeds have grown in albo dominate?? They do come from a white inside striped standard leaf shape mother, but this is the first batch out of my 2,100 seeds total so far to do that, it also happens to be the first batch where she is mother and not father. Soo a thing of note👀

If it aint odd its gotta go to the compost box to feed the weirdos is my motto as of now due to scale and lack of space haha, sooo we have THE BEFOREEE then im keeping a good bit of all green bonnies simply because i didnt have any in my collection and none of my friends have them either so ill be giving them out to family/friends but they also come from 2 different crosses pic 2 is all green standard leaf spider plant x white midline bonnie spider plant. Pic 3 is white edge standard leaf spider plant x white midline bonnie spider plant
Now these ones are my ‘ oddities ‘ so far, pic 4 is the only seedling that grew out of a pod that had 4 fully formed seed chambers instead of the normal 2-3 chambers. And i legit had a 900+ pod sample size, it being the ONLY 4 pod to appear. So this one visually isnt distinct yet although it did randomly pop a splotch of white on one of its leaves? Its really being kept in hopes that it continues to reproduce 4 pod seed chambers instead of the standard 3 max. Its also an all green standard leaf spider plant x white midline bonnie spider plant seedling.
Pic 5 ( and 7 ) are of an all green standard leaf spider plant self fertilized and both are showing striping that is not in the middle nor edge but still faint in color
Pic 6 ( and 8,9,10 ) are of all green standard spider plant x white edge standard leaf spider plant. 8 are of the ones currently showing up noticeably lighter than the rest of them - 9 sprouted out some random lines out of nowhere because its first like 4-5 leaves were just normal green lol - 10 has shown odd striping since leaf 1, actually its first leaf was almost a halfmoon so its slowly been reverting to either all green or normal line since it was a baby.. i still carry hope that it gets weird again as it matures though because IMAGINE A HALFMOON SPIDER PLANT!! Wow…

My main main oddity in the middle with hawaiian to the left and an all green to the right, figured id throw it in so yall could see what i see or call me crazy hahaha, to me its objectively different even down to when you zoom into the leaves like the veins look different but im also very very hopeful for oddities and the mind is powerful i could be tricking myself hahahaha

I will be repotting into a new pot in the morning with fresh soil & a separate pot inside the decorative one but beyond that i have 0 experience with begonias, any tips would be very very welcomed(: - signed your friendly spider plant lover that needss helllppp hahahaha
FINALLY HARVESTED THE LAST OF MY PODS !! So i was able to chop off all the stolon ( left bonnies because i wanna make a video chopping it lol😅 ) but LOOK AT ALL THOSE BABIES!! Plus the cull box for any that were ugly & stems 🤭🤣

1 year of growth to go from a weird little reverted section on my standard spider plant to its own fully established all green little self with over 1,000 seedling babies ( peep some below it in the last image haha ) oh how i love these beasts of a plant
