Proper Simulator Practice? How to get good?

I hope to get my first simulator up and running today. I’m that guy that’s probably played 2-3 rounds a year but also have had years without playing. I’m 43 yr 6’2” and when I get ahold of one it goes. I struggle severely with chipping and putting. 100 yards and in I’m all in my own head. My rounds this year were 99, 96, 42 (9 holes), and then a miserable 107. I know I need to hit the treadmill because when I walk 18 I fall apart more-so on the back nine from being tired especially on a very hilly course to walk. I’m going to take some lessons but how should I approach the simulator to get better? I’d love to be consistently shooting in the 80’s one day.

OG Square Home lighting question?

I’ve got an original square coming and have seen some posts about sunlight impacting it. I’ve got a two bay garage with two windows on the opposite side from the simulator. The windows do have those plastic blinds but you can still see some sunlight through it. Do you think I’d be ok with that or would I need to cover them more?

Order Square Omni from Square???

I’m hearing people have been ordering the Square Omni straight from Square and getting it rather quick. When you went to check out do you remember if it said “Add to Cart” or did it say “Pre-Order”. I just tried to purchase one and it said “Pre-Order” which is making me think maybe I should just stick to my original order with Rain or Shine.

Omni from Square vs Other Store

Is it just me or is it kind of crappy that square allowed preorders which myself and many others took advantage of (at least we thought we did) and folks are ordering directly from Square and getting the Omni way faster? Seems like a good company would be trying to fulfill those preorders before stocking their own inventory. But what do I know !

BenQ AH700ST question

Anyone using the BenQ AH700ST. I’ve got the 7x7 Net Return simulator kit for my bet and I’m having a hard time getting the auto fit to work. I’m not sure if it’s looking past my screen and seeing the white walls or what. I feel like I’ve tried from numerous distances.

Projector Mounting Advice

I’m hoping to mount my projector today. It should be about 7.5 to 8ft above the hitting strip. If you had a choice 1, 2, 3rd choice which order would you choose from best to worst. Projector over hitting strip and over ball, projector over hitting strip but forward of ball by several inches, or projector over hitting strip but behind the ball by several inches???

Idea? Modify Net Return

I’m looking for the handymen (or women) out there that can give me some ideas. I did not realize The Net Return hitting net was about 3.5’ from the wall and the No fly zone sticks out another 3.5’ft. So I feel like I have this nice expensive net but it’s taking away 7’ of my hitting zone out of play in my garage. Any ideas on cutting the pipes to push the whole thing closer to the wall or modifying the no fly zone to give me another foot back?

Low Projector Ceiling Mount

Anyone have a ceiling mounted projector over the ball or hitting strip that’s lower than 8ft? If so have you hit the projector. I bought the BenQ AH700ST and with my setup I believe I need to mount it between 8’ 2” to 9’ 10” from the screen, which is about directly over my hitting strip. I can’t move the strip any closer or further from the screen without risk of hitting the overhead net or garage door. I haven’t opened the projector yet. I’m wondering if my best bet is to return it to BenQ and get the AH500ST (ultra short throw) and use a floor mount. The AH700ST also says optimal height is -2” above screen which would be a little higher than 7 ft. I’m running a 7x7 ft screen.

Preorder Omni from Playbetter

Where’s everyone seeing the expected ship date of the Square Omni from Playbetter? I bought the Square Golf Omni Golf Launch Monitor Home Net Studio with The Net Return Premium Hitting Net Package. I’ve received the nets and turf (everything but the Omni). When I look at my order online I don’t see anything about an expected Omni ship date like it seems others are seeing.

Please Help Projector Placement

If anyone is willing to watch my less than two minute video and give me pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

Background: I ordered the net return home series and ended up also purchasing the impact screen that attaches to it as well as a BenQ AH700ST projector. I also added the no fly zone to the net. I built a 4X6 hitting mat and 4x6 putting mat that will sit flush to the hitting mat. I spent a lot of time researching and doing due diligence but I may have messed up. I wasn’t aware the net return sat 3 feet from the wall. The online projector calculators say to mount the projector between 8’ 2” and 9’ 9” from the screen and -2” from the top of the screen. That would put the projector only at a little over 7’ high or 3 ft down from my 10ft ceilings.

What’s the best floor mounted projector cover?

I’ve been weighing my options for a while now and due to having the net return home series with no fly zone I think my best option is mounting my BenQ AH700ST on the floor in front of me. With only a 7x7 screen and 3 ft of net over hang from the no fly zone I think ceiling mounting would need to be too low for my liking. From my research it appears that 8ft 2in would be optimal projector placement from the screen. I figured I’d be hitting at 9 to 10 ft. What floor cover are folks liking? Also am I at risk of hitting the projector/cover with my club when swinging?

Simulator spot light question?

Those of you using a spot light on your ball is that the only light you’re using (everything else dark)? If so is it a weird experience versus playing outside in the daylight?

Community Care Help!

Hi team!

About 14 months ago I cut my hand very bad and went to the ER. I did everything right through community care and ended up having to have tendon repair surgery at Yale Newhaven hospital all covered through the VA. Everything went smooth. Fast forward to now about a month ago I went for the annual follow up with the surgeon. I just received a bill from Yale Newhaven for the follow up appointment. Any idea how I get this covered by the VA? I assumed it was all still part of the original claim but now I’m getting a bill. Thoughts?

The Net Return Simulator Kit ???

Anyone out there using the 7x7 Net Return Home Net simulator kit add on? If so how do you have your projector mounted? I’m worried with the “no fly zone” overhang I’ll have to mount it too low from the ceiling. I’m thinking maybe protective floor case.

First Sim Any Regrets?

For those of you that started out small like me for your first simulator what’s the things you wish you had done the first time or at least done better? I can see where this could grow into constant upgrades. I’m usually a buy once cry once guy but I’m starting out basic with this hobby?

Love hate relationship!

I bought The Net Return package from Playbetter with the Square Omni (everything has arrived except the Onni). I got the net, no fly zone, and side barriers setup. I took the 10x6 mat cut it all up, added some foam and other materials to make it flush with the sigpro softy hitting strip as well as created a custom putting mat that sits flush with the hitting mat. Thought everything was golden until my wife said “why didn’t you just get a retractable enclosure and projector setup!” FML. I was trying to keep it cheap to avoid pissing her off! I think the moral of the story is men we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. So if you’ve got the money I guess go big or go home.

BenQ AH700ST mounting help!

Any idea what the below image is telling me as far as mounting height? I’m adding a screen to my net return net and it’s 7x7ft or 114” diagonal. I set the calculator to 1:1 ratio and locked it in at 114” diagonal. If I have 10 ft ceilings is this telling me the project needs to sit 3ft off the ceiling (7ft in the air)? That seems really low.

Square and Awesome Golf: Gaming PC or No?

I’m waiting patiently like a lot of others for my square Omni. I’m also thinking of adding the BenQ AH500 projector and the net return home series impact screen for my net. Looks like I’ll have a 1:1 aspect ratio. I’m also looking into the awesome golf lifetime license.

Question: can I run all this with my MacBook Pro or iPad? Does it make sense to add a decent gaming PC right now?
