So I feel really dumb not knowing this but here is my current situation.
We had an older dryer in the home, it wasn't really drying well. It took 3 or 4 cycles of the longest setting (3 hours a cycle) to dry clothes. We thought it was the heating element so we replaced it. The issue was still happening. We then thought that I hadn't installed it properly and had a tech come out and look at it, and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. We cleaned out the vent and the connection point. Same issue. Finally we bit the bullet and bought a new dryer - GE 7.4-cu ft Vented Electric Dryer ( White ) Item #5300459 | Model #GTD58EBSVWS from Lowes. (https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-7-4-cu-ft-Electric-Dryer-White/5014110827) however its still having the same issue. Even with the damp sensor turned on we have to run the 4 hour cycle, at a minimum, twice to get clothes dry, and if we do something bulky like towels or blankets, forget it. Three cycles at least. We thought it was the winter and the cool air was condensing in the vent but now in the heat of summer its still doing it and is somehow worse. There seems to be condensation forming on the front window. I have even tried adding a second spin cycle on the washer to get more water out of the items.
Information about the room - the dryer is located in the basement that is kept cool in the summer and warm in the winter as my hvac is down there as well. The vent goes from the bottom of the dryer up the wall to an outlet hole. It makes an L shape. We have cleaned out the vent and the dryer again to make sure there were no blockages. We are located in the North East in New Jersey (near Philly).
So I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong? The likelihood that two dryers are having the same issue is very unlikely. It has to be user error at this point. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated because Im tired of not being able to dry my clothes in a decent time.
Thanks.
I just got back from visiting my parents. My father is a Boomer MAGA and my mother is more understanding, still a republican but not a trump supporter. So my father and I have a very tenuous truce over politics when I visit. This is to keep my mother happy. What makes this worse is that he is a Canadian immigrant and paid to be a US citizen and I am an anchor baby, being born here while they were still Canadian citizens. Anyway we were driving to dinner the other night and drove by an anti trump protest. My mother asked what 8647 ment. I responded with what it was. That was it. Not that I agreed with them or anything, I just answered her question. My father, turned to me and said, “That’s dumb. I’m sure you agree with them and I would argue with you but I don’t fight with >!retarted!< people.“ (Sorry that I dropped the hard R slur)
Side note about this, he owns his own business and, despite all his flaws he‘s very good at what he does. What he’s not good at, no surprise, he is not good at IT. I work in IT so when I visit I clean up his tech messes and work on the network.
I was super pissed about his comment that it almost messed up dinner, but I tried to let it go. After dinner I was still fuming and we got home and I was working on his network. So I decided to take petty revenge. I quickly built a network certificate that would block all of Fox News and all its affiliates. I then built and deployed the same cert to all the devices in the house, including his TV, phone, computers, and iPads.
I also left to fly home today and he hasn’t noticed because he didn’t turn it on while I was there, to his credit.
I guess he’s going to need to find an IT person who’s not mentally deficient and can do IT work to fix this.
I plan on removing the block if he apologizes and admits that he was wrong. But knowing him he wont.
I thought that you all would get a kick out of this.

****I changed "the hard R slur" to "R slur" as it has been pointed out multiple times that there is a difference between the two. Thank you for letting me know and I have made the change. ****
