Almost done…

Decided that a 12u took up too much space and decided on 2 6u wall mounted units.

Best way to cable manage this?

Feasible to power ubiquiti equipment with type c?

Debating on if it’s worth it to minimize my power cords and switch to type c to barrel cords for my UCG Fiber, Flex, and Pro XG 8.

Anyone do this?

Downsizing…

Needed the closet space and realized how “overkil” my closet system was for my house.

Waiting on a couple of 3D printed things for my unvr and UCG fiber. Otherwise runs my 7gbe connection flawlessly.

Going to start parting out later this week.

Thinking I should have done this to begin with!

Aggravating experience for New Customer… Internet Down, Lights On.

Internet goes out at 10:30am this morning. Spent 5 hrs on tech support with no solution.

7 gigabit connection and new install last week. Has been working great.

Setup is ONT—->UCG Fiber——>Connected to entire network rack.

Went through 10 technicians all wanting to do the same thing and imply it’s my router which it definitely isn’t.

Issue is I have no internet connection from the ONT. 2.5gbe port on my laptop, eero, 10gbe adapter, cheap router, UCG fiber. All 3 lights are solid green. They ran multiple checks and said my ONT was good. However no device sees a connection. Despite asking for tier 2, etc. they will not transfer me. My devices reflect a link but no data.

Anyone have any ideas!? No outage here. They can see my ONT perfect fine. They claim all the ports work. However they cannot see the eero and the eero fails to find internet.

(Also tried multiple brand new cat6a cables)

Thank you!

Getting 7gig Fiber installed Friday! But…

My entire UniFi setup is in the middle of the house… 5 cameras, 24 ports around the house are all cabled to my office which is the central point.

Frontier laid new lines in my neighborhood and called the utility companies to mark my yard. However, they had to mark the worst spot to install and wouldn’t change the area….

So I have 3 options.

  1. Beg the installer to change the location of the modem. (Doubtful it’ll happen)

2)The install point goes through my garage. I could put my ucg cloud fiber in the garage and get a long ass cat7 cable (100-150ft) to go to my rack. (Getting a 7 gigabit connection)

  1. relocate everything/recable everything to go in my garage or nearby room.

Opinions?

Chat says yes, website says no?

My neighborhood just had lines dug last month and cables have been spliced by a separate company. Everything is buried and done.

While the website says “fiber coming soon” the chatbot says it’s ready to purchase and the link puts me back in the loop to coming soon.

Any ideas on how to order service before everyone and their mother orders theirs?

Thank you!

90 Mile Round Trip Commute

Debating on what I should be looking into for a new car.

Currently own a gas 2023 Highlander with 80k miles which averages around 24-25 MPG. Got a raise for a job an hour away (35 miles on a 2 lane state road with 5-6blights, 10 miles country roads.)

I looked up from a few websites to where if I doubled my mpg I would be saving 400ish a month alone if gas prices were above $4/gallon. This has my interested as I don’t exactly need an suv anymore.

I’m open to a hybrid or an all electric vehicle. Don’t know if I should be looking to sell the Highlander due to all of the transmission issues I’ve been seeing pop up online.

Open to suggestions.
