2 stitches over the gauge for the Sophie Hood (M) - that’s okay right? Also - how do you frog??

Pattern calls for 17 stitches in 4 inches and I have 19 (if I counted correctly.) But I think that’s okay for this hood, right? Since it’s just knit flat and stitched together?

Also - I want to frog this swatch I think. To keep the yarn. What’s the easiest way?? I don’t think it’ll come apart if I just pull, will it? Are there different methods of frogging?

Why is my yarn tangling?

This is a cake, right? My yarn shop rewound my yarn from the spiral thing to this but every so often it tangles as I’m working. I don’t ever want to work this way again lol. How should I wind my yarn?? I see people talking about using the backs of chairs but I don’t understand that and I don’t want to knit in front of 2 chairs always??? Sorry, not sure which flair to use 😬

Am I properly counting 18 stitches?

They make my eyes cross, and idk if I’m doing it right. Pattern is the Sailors Cap by DROP designs? I’m also working with 2 strands of a cotton/ rayon mix instead. I just learned I could double up today 🤯

This is my first gauge swatch!

Also - the “straight line” pattern in my stockinette - is that because I’m using 2 strands of yarn? It doesn’t usually look like that. It usually looks like the regular “v” shape. Are these twisted??

First piece that isn’t a dishcloth! I still don’t fully understand regular needles vs circular?

I knitted the flat hat! (from Knitting Patterns for Dummies) I could cry lol. I learned how to knit this year and yall inspired me to venture into the purl stitch!!

About half way through, I was so frustrated of how bunchy the hat got on my needles, I bought a set of circular needles to finish the project so I had more room. It was a little bit of a learning curve and you can see where my stitches are a little looser in the middle.

I was a little nervous it wouldn’t turn ok because it’s supposed to be knitted flat, which I still don’t really understand the meaning of 🤣🤦‍♀️ But it seems like it turned out just the same after I switched to circular needles. I’m wondering when I should and should not use regular needles versus circular? Like, I’m pretty sure socks have to be made with circular needles? But isn’t it also bad to have a flat project get all tight and bunchy on your needles??

Thank you! I’ll be making a nicer version for my expecting friend 😅😅
