Why is AI so bad at admitting something is good?

You could have William Shakespeare himself draft an email and ChatGPT will still say "A few minor tweaks" You could even fix those tweaks, and give the email back, and it will still say "One last thing" Seriously go try this right now it always has something new. Why can't AI just say "Yes this is good, I have nothing to say" It always tries to say some bullsh

Why does ChatGPT think I'm a minor?

So frequently it says “I can’t give instructions for that” in response to the simplest asks. I ask why, and it says it’s because I’m a minor. I’ve never been a minor under this account, and I don’t even talk to it about “childish” topics. I don’t know how it could have possibly gotten that idea. I even told it to store in its memory that I’m an adult, but to no avail. I think there’s something deeper in its system prompt that’s telling it that I’m allegedly a minor. Any fixes??

Michael Johnston (Bear) is such a great actor!

I see so many people praising Inde Navarrette, and for good reason. She was incredible. But I don't see much praise for Michael despite how amazing his performance was!

I think a lot of the discussion around questions like "Is Bear evil?", "When did Bear turn bad?", "Did Bear even love Nikki?", etc. etc. comes from how nuanced Michael's performance was. He portrayed Bear's cowardice so well while also maintaining a sense of innocence early in the movie, making it seem like Bear was the good guy. That complexity is what makes people debate his character so much. In all of the scary scenes with Nikki he also seemed genuinely terrified. An important part of horror is not only how good the scary actor's acting is, but also how scared the other characters appear to be.

I feel bad for Wish Nikki too

Imagine being "born" with one purpose: to love Bear more than anyone else in the world, including yourself, only for that love to never be returned.

It's no secret that Wish Nikki acts irrationally and does terrible things. But I also feel bad for her because, in a way, she doesn't really know any different. I see her almost like a machine with only one objective: love Bear. Everything she does is driven by what she believes will help her achieve that goal.

Because of that, I don't even see Wish Nikki as truly evil. To me, she's a tragic character. She cares deeply about someone who doesn't care about her in the same way, and she's trapped by a purpose she never chose for herself.

This doesn't excuse her actions, but it does make them sad. But I see people online saying she's inherently horrible, which I just don't agree with.

Reminder, I'm talking about the wish Nikki here, not the actual Nikki.

Does real Nikki actually know what's happening?

I've heard a lot of people say that "Nikki is watching everything that's happening" but is that really the case?

Every time real Nikki comes back alive, she acts extremely shocked like saying WTF, etc. So this makes me question if she's actually watching EVERYTHING. Because if she is already watching, why does she act like she's confused?

You could argue it's just her freaking out - which is valid. But her screams feel more like "how did I even get here wtf is happening" which makes me feel like it's more out of sheer shock.

A theory I had is maybe she's just in shock that she got the chance to come back to life. Like since evil Nikki is controlling her most of the time. The times when real Nikki regains control are very sparse. So maybe Nikki is just in shock that she's finally in the drivers seat.

Again, though, her screams just feel way more like a confused shock. So it just makes me wonder if Nikki was actually watching everything. People are making it seem like Nikki was watching a movie of her own life, like she was watching everything that was happening, just couldn't act on it. I'd love to hear the reasons why people think that way.

Edit: to the people saying yes because of XYZ. Why does she still act surprised when she comes back alive? Like if she's watching everything, why is she so confused and disoriented when she comes back?

Who’s the better friend: Ian or Sarah?

Both do have some negatives that can’t be ignored

Ian was hooking up with Nikki but still helping Bear ask her out. I mean this is pretty fucked. Trying to help your friend ask a girl out but then secretly be hooking up with her is weird asf

Ian also told Bear to call Nikki freaky Nikki. This is also pretty fucked as he knew Nikki didn’t like that.

Sarah has less negatives imo but they can’t be ignored.

Trying to hook up with Bear while bear and Nikki were dating. Yes we know that Bear and Nikki’s relationship was inauthentic but Sarah does not know that, she can only assume things looking in from the outside. She knew they were together but seemed very willing to kiss in her car scene with Bear (yes Bear also seemed willing to kiss, I’m not denying that, but we already knew he was an asshole)

There’s probably some other stuff I’m missing, but the question is: who is the better friend Ian or Sarah?

How the hell did they light her face like this?

Maybe I'm just overreacting, but the lighting is so beautiful. Like her eyes are so bright but her face is so dark.

Hot take: Bear is the villain of the movie, not Nikki

Not sure if this is what the director intended, but I don't think Nikki is the villain. After all, Bear literally forces her to be "in love" with him and doesn't do anything about it, he just takes advantage of the situation.

READ THIS ->>> Okay this post is obviously a joke, but I find it crazy how many people are making posts like this acting like they discovered something grand. All over TikTok and even this sub, I see "Bear is the real villain, not Nikki," like yes OBVIOUSLY, that's the entire point of the movie.

Here's an actual hot take (maybe): Media literacy is dying, and the fact that this is even a problem is crazy.

EDIT: added a "READ THIS" because people were missing the point that this post is a joke

Why Bear was unable to vomit the pills back up at the end:

I'm pretty sure the director already confirmed why Bear couldn't vomit the pills back up, so I'll explain both what my original theory was and what the director actually said.

My original theory (I thought this would be extremely interesting):

Right when Bear starts trying to make himself throw up, evil Nikki makes the wish for him to love her as much as she loves him.

Throughout the movie, it is pretty clear what the real Nikki wants: she wants to be free. She wants Bear to kill her so she can finally be released from the nightmare she is trapped in. Bear also knows that if he kills himself, the wish breaks, which would set the real Nikki free.

So in my mind, Bear dying was actually the final “most loving” thing he could do for Nikki. By killing himself, he would free her. That is why I originally thought he could not gag the pills back up. I thought Nikki’s One Wish Willow was forcing him to complete the ultimate loving act, even if he tried to stop it.

What the director actually said:

Apparently, the original script did not even have Bear trying to gag the pills back up. He just took them and died.

But the actor who played Bear talked to Curry Barker and said something like, “Wouldn’t it be crazy if, after all of that, he still tried to save himself at the last second?” Basically, even after everything, Bear still could not fully commit to killing himself.

Curry Barker liked that idea, so they added it.

So the actual explanation seems much simpler: Bear was still a coward. Even at the very end, he hesitated and tried to take it back. He just physically could not throw the pills back up in time.

Obsession 2026: The original script for Bear and Nikki's sex scene is even more terrifying

INT. BEAR’S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Nicky slams Bear against the wall, kissing fiercely. They move to the bed where Bear playfully pushes her down. Clothes shed, Bear kisses her neck.

Mid-moan, Nicky locks eyes with Bear, her expression shifting to SHEER PANIC. With a frantic shove, she pushes him away and lets out a BLOOD-CURDLING SCREAM, her body trembling.

NICKY: Bear, what the FUCK!

Bear remains unfazed, his eerie calm demeanor chilling. Within moments, she's back, kissing his stomach. The disturbance registers as nothing more than a fleeting inconvenience to him.

NICKY (CONT’D): Sorry, baby.

BEAR: It’s okay, baby.

That line: "The disturbance registers as nothing more than a fleeting inconvenience to him." is insane. Especially that word "fleeting," he is essentially treating real Nikki as just an obstacle, like an annoying advertisement before the movie he wants to watch, and just waits for it to be over so he can have sex with her. He doesn't care that the real Nikki doesn't want him to have sex with her, he just wants real Nikki to go away so he can have sex freely with evil Nikki.

I do think it was a good decision to leave this out of the film, though. This would have confused Bear's character. The craziness of Bear's character stems from the fact that he starts cute, innocent, and relatable (everyone has been scared to ask their crush out before), so he builds trust with the audience, and then slowly it is revealed how awful he is. This scene would have revealed that "twist" too quickly and too abruptly (in my opinion), which would have removed some of his character depth. I think the biggest evil moment for Bear is when he says, "What's so bad about being with me?" which comes very close to the end of the movie, so that buildup makes sense.

But besides that, this scene would have been insanely insanley wicked to watch. This move is so fucked up.

I read through the entire script and I must say a lot of the scenes were changed (it appears that real Nikki reappears a lot more in the script than in the movie). It could be because of bias, but I do think the version depicted in the film is better than the script.

Nikki is a superhero.

Nikki survived (still physically functioning) while being subjected to:

Having her head smashed with a broken wine glass, multiple times.

Having her head smashed with a brick, also multiple times.

No food or water (which is why she was vommiting)

The craziest thing is it never even appeared to bother her. At first I thought it was just the wish suppressing it. But even when real Nikki snaps back to life, she doesn’t shut down from the pain (those physical actions would have caused anyone to break down in pain, a natural human response). You could argue that “she was so upset she just wanted to kill herself above all else” which I agree, but I’m arguing that that level of pain is simply unable to be ignored, it’s crazy that she was able to continue (like how she smashed her head TWICE not just once)

Even at the end of the movie, where Nikki is finally “free” she cries, but from my interpretation that is more from the emotional terror she is in, I don’t get a physical “I’m dying” feeling.

I’m definitely overthinking it but it’s just interesting to me how she was able to function (and appear as if it didn’t affect her) despite all those factors (it’s a movie so duh but still interesting) which leads me to conclude she’s a superhero.

Obsession 2026: Why did Nikki say "it's all your fault"

So when Nikki kills Sarah, she immediately tells Bear that it is entirely his fault, saying something like, “Sarah is your fault. You wished for this.” That caught me off guard because yes, damn near everything happening in the movie is Bear’s fault, but throughout the movie Nikki constantly sides with Bear and will basically do anything for him. So I was confused about why she suddenly blamed him so directly after killing Sarah. I would have expected her to be more apologetic or emotional, like “I’m so sorry,” instead of turning it back on him.

I feel like this is quite obvious so idk how I missed it. Is it just that she's "blaming" him for having Sarah like him, so essentially Nikki felt that she "had to" kill sarah?

Obsession 2026: Would Bear still be the villain if his wish had been less extreme?

The movie clearly frames Bear as the villain because his wish is so extreme. He doesn’t just want Nikki to notice him or give him a chance. He wishes for her to love him more than anyone else in the world, which completely takes away her control over her own feelings.

But it made me wonder: would Bear still be evil if the wish had been less drastic?

For example, what if he wished something like, “I wish Nikki liked me more than a friend,” or “I wish Nikki saw me romantically”? You could argue that this is still evil no matter what, because he is still altering Nikki’s autonomy and changing how she sees him without her consent. But at the same time, a wish like that would still technically allow Nikki to leave him or reject him later, unlike the extreme version in the movie.

So I guess my question is: is Bear evil because of how extreme and controlling the wish was, or is any wish that changes Nikki’s perception of him already morally wrong?

Curious what other people think.
