Title: I Felt Bad For Persona 5's Worst Villains

Summary: This is my video essay on Persona 5, and how I replayed it again as an adult and came away with some pretty uncomfortable feelings. Namely the fact that I felt weirdly sympathetic towards the villains of the game, which if you dont know anything about the game, the villains are real big POS. My video is faceless, just quick edits and scenes while I talk over stuff.

Torso Studies

So a couple things I noticed during my Torso studies. (No idea if this makes sense to anyone else)

Whenever I would connect the top part (the chest) to the bottom (the hips) rather than connecting those pieces using 1 straight line, it always looked like the top part was gradually stretching to the butt and the hips were always reaching towards the chest.

the pecs and back kinda look like its armored onto the chest, like after you create a ball for the upper chest area, you then wanna overlap the ball with the pecs and occasionally draw another layer behind the ball to show the chest. (Again not sure if this makes sense to anyone else.)

I've never drawn the backside of the torso before, so im not sure if there are details or things I am missing that highlights that is the back.

Ive never really drawn the abs before either (maybe if I had my own id be more familiar with them) but they kinda look weird too.

Any thoughts or advice/critiques would be helpful.

Figure Drawing Practice

I tried doing some figure drawing practice that eventually turned into drawing by the eye. I dont usually draw using the egg shape method, which is why my torsos look really small. Can anyone give me some critiques?

Gesture Drawing Practice

So I watched a couple videos of gesture drawings by Micheal Hampton, and im trying to emulate his practice. Some of this kinda feels weird to me, where i typically like to use boxes and shapes so I can more clearly understand which part faces where, but doing so always causes me to have more rigid poses. I try to work with the spine first, then figure out the angles of the hips and shoulders. I dont know if my contour lines are "correct" Any advice is appreciated.

Anatomy Study Help

So a piece of advice ive gotten from my previous figure drawings is to study basic anatomy, so I opened up Loomis For What its worth and tried to draw one of the simpler anatomy figures. Can anyone point me in the right direction to practice Anatomy to go from this to my subject?

Figure Study 1: Attempt 3

Here is my first attempt at creating the entire subject and not just breaking it down. In the breakdown I drew the neck and the head, but when actually drawing the head I realized that the neck was too far away from the torso so I had some difficulty figuring out where the neck started on the torso to the head. I'm not too good at creating volume on the hair so I avoided shading it cause I was afraid of mindlessly texturing/scratching the hair into existence. Can anyone provide any tips how to move forward?

Ninja Breakdown Attempt 2

Hey this is my second attempt at breaking down this reference. I drew the ground, made the head bigger, added contour lines, and shifted the perspective so im looking at the subject straight on rather than from the top. Anyone have any critiques, any advice on how to proceed, like should I start drawing the details on top of what I drew or should I draw the outline first then details. Or I could continue breaking down the figure. Any advice is welcome.

Finger Hand Drawing Help

Im trying to learn drawing hands but im having trouble visualizing how the finger sits on the hand. From how I see it, it looks like an L shaped box and the finger obstructs the entire front of the box. Im just having trouble seeing how the finger connects to the hand.

Practice Feedback

So I am trying to practice by doing 15-minute figure drawings, and while I looked at it I added lines to the thigh to give it form. How can I make the thighs look more apart without the contour lines? Any other advice would be welcome as well.

I know this sounds dumb, but I always tackled practice as either aimlessly drawing shapes or trying to make 1 to 1 copies of my reference where I meticulously measure every line, accurately match the degree of every angle, how far away is the arm to the belly, try to measure things out by putting the pencil to my eye etc. And this practice typically takes me hours.

Now im trying to switch up my practice where I draw something in a short time frame aka 15 minutes per subject, and I know im supposed to get a rough shape of the reference, and I kinda understand that conceptually but im not sure if I understand that in practice. It kinda just felt like im just rushing to copy it. Can anyone attempt to clarify the goal to me?

Can I just get peoples thoughts on these figures from PuP? I wanna get Persona figures but I also feel like this franchise is never not gonna have new figures coming out, so im just in that phase of should I get them or not.
