The Future of Halo and Xbox for collectors on the other side of the World (New Zealand)
Halo fans and collectors (and gamers/collectors in general) in New Zealand recently lost EB Games/Zing (GameStop) leaving gamers and collectors with no access to premium collectables and collectors edition games, consoles and merchandise.
JB HiFi has limited access to what EB games was able to acquire, but iJB HiFi is nowhere as good or varied.
The only alternative is to follow the Australian stores and ship to NZ using a 3rd party shipping/on-forwarding service.
All Xbox customer service and social media has been automated so there's no support or assistance for fans/customers other than their scheduled content and chat bots with a set of scripted responses.
So, when Halo Campaign Evolved Collectors Editions were announced, we were overlooked and immediately missed out.
If you were lucky enough and able to meet the timezones, get online and successfully submit an order through the Xbox global store there was no direct shipping to NZ, meaning again, we had to use 3rd party shipping services and potentially further import taxes.
I've been collecting Xbox and Halo merchandise since Day One (Launch day) and now looking at $1400-$1800 and more price tags on the resale of the unboxed/unopened Halo Campaign Evolved Collectors Editions on eBay.
There's no one at a higher level for customers/gamers/collector can reach out to, I've worked in retail and through that was able to contact the national distributors but they're of no assistance either, usually referring us back to Xbox/Microsoft or the retailers.
I'm hoping NZ will get some stock of the 25th Anniversary consoles when they are released in November/December but I suspect that'll be a strictly limited drop shared with Australian shipments and only available through Australian retailers or through JB HiFi NZ
Annoyed and frustrated at the experience of missing out on the Campaign Evolved Collectors Editions but hoping that Microsoft/Xbox review their user experience for all global customers rather than fixate on larger US and European markets.
