Dual XDR Studio Displays - help

Hoping somebody can answer this:

I have an M5 Max which can handle 2 XDR 5K displays at 120Hz.

Partner has an M4 Pro which can't. It can do 2 XDR 5K at 60hz, however, trying to get the second display to show up requires workaround with dummy HDMI etc which is a faff.

Question is can a dock with dual TB5 like the Ivanky Fusion Ultra negate that? Would the fact it handles X displays on the chain somehow allow both displays at 60hz or is this wishful thinking until/if Apple allow 60Hz when connecting to 2 displays on a chip incapable of 2x 5K 120?

My thinking is the dock itself might negotiate 5k 60 for both displays when faced with a M series chip which can't do full fat 5K 120.

Appreciate any help.

Maxed out Mac and XDR arrived

M5 Max MacBook Pro - 128GB/8TB. Pairing it with 2 Studio XDR displays on VESA arms. Still awaiting the second display.

Trying to decide if I want a thunderbolt 5 dock as my external SSD has to go via its own port anyway.

128GB availability to be hit?

Recently ordered a maxed out config which is currently being built. This got me thinking about the Mac Studio and Mini limitations at the moment.

Do you think as the supply chain issues bite we will see a similar situation with the MacBook Pro? Restrictions on storage and ram seem to be affecting other lines as they are bought up for local llm use, only a matter of time before those M5 Max chips with larger ram chips also become too sought after?

Purchased a Samsung 8TB 9100 pro SSD. Delivered today and immediately noticed the label looks tempered with, like a fingernail picked at it. Plugged it in already pretty certain this isn’t a 8TB drive, to discover it’s actually a 250GB 980!!

Took it to my local store immediately, thankfully they were great and could see both the 9100 serial and the 980 serial were both recorded at the same store.

This means some muppet working at the Darlington branch took the label off the 9100, stuck it on to the 980 and decided to send me that instead.

250GB 990 pro SSD effectively goes missing which, with its much lower value, probably wouldn’t trigger too many problems in store, but it’s an easy way to pocket an expensive 8TB drive.

Local branch confirmed they would’ve needed to check the item before sending, and there’s no way a 250GB 990 pro with a fake label gets taken in as an 8TB.

Be careful out there folks, pretty shocked by this one, luckily I didn’t get someone in my local branch on a power trip saying I did it. Could’ve easily been left in a terrible position.

EDIT: A few diehard CEX fans are claiming this wasn’t a scam. Company policy literally makes it impossible to switch the labels and sell them a drive without it being tested and picked up. You guys know this too.
