Kuycon.it Legit or Scam?

Hi everyone,
I'm writing this post to get your opinion and find out if anyone else has ever bought from the website **Kuycon.it**, or if I've just stumbled into a scam.
I completed the purchase of a monitor on their site today, but right after the payment went through, I noticed a few red flags that are making me quite worried:

  1. 3D Secure (3DS) disabled: During the card transaction, the system didn't ask for any approval notification on my banking app or the classic SMS code. The payment went straight through.

  2. The company behind the site: Checking the legal details at the bottom of the page only *after paying, I noticed that the website refers to an Italian company called MMG Service Srl.

  3. The business sector doesn't match: Doing a quick online search on this MMG Service Srl, it turns out to be a company based in Sicily that sells machinery and tools for cutting marble. Literally nothing to do with monitors and technology.
Has anyone ever ordered from this platform and can confirm if it's legitimate, or if this is a case of corporate identity theft/scam?

Thanks to anyone who can give me some advice or share their experience!

My Experience with the Asus PA27JCV 27” Display

Absolutely don’t buy the Asus PA27JCV 27” monitor. Serious quality control issues. I had the Asus monitor and after 8 months the monitor developed very bad streaks on the lower third of the screen. I sent it in for repair as per Amazon’s instructions, packaged it up very carefully, and when it arrived at the service center, they voided the warranty because they claimed it was damaged in shipping. Amazon Spain was likewise not helpful in the long run, even though at first they seemed to be willing to provide a refund. Amazon stopped responding to my requests for information, so in the end I was basically out 700 Euros. As a side note, if you ever have to pack up a monitor to ship for servicing, take pictures and videos showing how you packed the monitor and also showing that there is no external damage. Finally if you look at the star ratings on Amazon for the Asus 27” monitor, the overall rating is lower than even other Asus monitors.

LG Ultrafine 6k - Taking Requests

Hi Guys,

After reading through various reddit posts, reviews on forums and watching youtube videos I decided to take the plunge and purchase an LG Ultrafine 6k

My primary use case is work (dev work - multiple IDEs, virtualisation, terminals etc)
Secondary use case is photography (lightroom)
I also do some light gaming (casual games not fps)

Ill share my experience and also comparison to how it performs against my samsung G81SF (4k oled 240hz) as a daily driver

Is there anything else anybody would like to know about the monitor?

YouTube now defaulting to 360p / 480p after switching to Samsung 6k

Is anyone else seeing this? I'm using Windows 11 Pro (fully patched) with a Samsung G80HS connected to a Radeon RX 9070XT via DisplayPort 2 but I also saw the problem with an Arc B580. I have gigabit broadband so internet bandwidth isn't an issue and the network connection is wired.

Browser is Google Chrome

I have tried changing the scaling variously to 150%, 200%, 225%, and 250% to no effect.

My first impression of Meirro Pro Display 6K monitor

Actually just got my Meirro Pro Display, figured I would share my first impression. Will continue to experiment with it and do some color calibration when I have time.

  • packaging came in looking rough, I thought it would be a DOA, I'm glad that the monitor actually survived, although somehow a bit dusty inside
  • Monitor looks really good, very similar to a few usual suspects. I personally prefer the clean aesthetic comparing to the G32P that I bought half a year ago. pictures of both attached for you to compare.
  • There is literally no button on this, I find that somehow interesting. My G32P has a power button, Meirro has nothing (Pete's review mentioned this too)
  • Monitor lights up with my MacBook M5 Max automatically, but there is a noticeable delay. Not as fast as an Apple display for sure.
  • I love how Apple features all work out of box: I was able to turn on HDR automatically; all resolutions/rates are available; brightness directly controllable; night shift works;
  • I have a minor issue with remote control, the back button seems to not respond sometimes, or at least I need to press harder, already reached out to customer service.

I need to head out for July 4th long weekend, once I'm back, I will add my color calibration results. I'm still debating if I should get an Apple Studio Display at this point to be honest, but no HDR for the base model seems truly unacceptable to me.

2022 Apple Studio Display

I’ve been looking online and saw Sam’s Club was selling the 2022 nano display for 1199. I’ve been looking at used and am uncertain of a fair price. Does $900 seem reasonable?

Terrible uniformity on Benq MA270S

Not very off center but super visible vignette. By far the worst I've seen among all my monitors. Is this normal? Btw this is using M-Book color sync and uniformity toggle on.

Kuycon P27Z 27" 5K 180Hz Monitor Review

Hey all, I recently purchased two Kuycon P27Z Monitors from Amazon last week and wanted to give my feedback in case anyone is on the fence about getting them.

I paid $3,231.85 for the pair.

Pros:

- Display
27" 5k 180Hz... What's not to love about this. It truly looks beautiful. Text is crisp. Minimal/no IPS backlight bleed. The panels are amazing. No dead pixels or imperfections.

- Build Quality
I'm actually surprised on how good the quality of these are. I mean the casing is metal and the screen has a glossy glass panel. I haven't noticed any lack of quality control.

- Brightness
Unless you have a very specific reason to need 2000 nits like the Apple Studio Display XDR, this thing gets BRIGHT. I run this at 60% brightness or I feel like I'm getting fried. And my office has a couple windows in it. 600 nits is plenty.

- Ports
It has the perfect number of ports. Personally, I connect a MacBook Pro M5 Max via Thunderbolt 5 (5k 180Hz dual displays). I also connect my work laptop via DisplayPort cables (5k 60Hz dual displays. Note: work laptop GPU limitation). I'm easily able to switch between the two systems and it's seamless.

The Apple Studio Display XDR only has the one TB5 input, and would be a pain in the ass to constantly switch the cables. Or the only other option is using some sort of KVM switch. Which they do not make for TB5. So I wouldn't even be able to do two ASD XDRs at once... Honestly I wouldn't get an ASD XDR even if they were the same price as these due to that inconvenience.

- Capabilities
I work 8 hours a day looking at static images, code, spreadsheets, etc. I also have been playing Forza Horizon 6 on GeForce Now at 5k 120FPS. There are zero motion issues. Static content looks great and crisp. I'm sure if you have the hardware, playing 5k 180fps should be breathtaking.

Cons:

- IPS Image Retention
This is an IPS Panel - sometimes there is a temporary image retention if you leave a bright object in the screen for too long. It isn't abnormal, and burn in isn't possible on the panel. Just something to note.

- Blacks
This isn't OLED. This isn't Mini-LED. This is an IPS Panel. Blacks are fine, but not that deep. I knew this before buying it. However, it's still a con.

- Menus
The Menu/OSD (On screen display) is terrible. More importantly, the buttons on the included remote are not mapped correctly. Confusing. However, one remote can control both... sort of a plus? Just have to aim it close to which monitor you want to control or it will do both at the same time.

- Glare
I feel like the glare from the glossy display is a bit much? Perhaps this is fairly standard with glossy screens, but it feels like there's no anti reflection in this whatsoever.

- Price
This is an interesting con... This thing is incredible. I truly think they're very capable and beautiful. However, I paid over $3,000 for "off-brand" monitors.

- Warranty
I bought these off Amazon. Turns out the 1 year warranty only applies to monitors bought off their website...not Amazon. This might be a dealbreaker for me. I failed to do enough research beforehand.

- Speakers
The speakers on these are hot trash. You will need your own.

- Daisy Chaining
This is silly to be a con, but it's too bad you can't daisy chain these like the ASD XDRs. Just need to plug in two cables into my MacBook. Just wanted to list it here in case anyone thought you could.

- Knockoff
Again, not really a con. However, you're forced to live a life of being a fraud. This isn't an Apple display, but sure looks like it. You'll always know you went for the "off-brand" ;)

Final Verdict

I think these are incredible monitors. However, I'm personally torn because I spent $3,231.85 on off brand monitors with no warranty. They're incredibly capable and do basically everything I want.

My only thing, is that I haven't decided if I want to keep them or not before the return window closes. If there was a 5k Mini-LED 120Hz+ with good reviews for ~$1,000, I'd probably return these and get a pair of those.

I'm mainly worried about the lifespan. 5k high bandwidth monitors are fairly new. And it concerns me with how long these will last. If they last 8 months and one fries, I'm screwed out of $1,600.

If you're considering one of these, I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea. But I don't think this is a no-brainer. I'm mostly on the fence due to things that haven't happened yet, and skeptical about the longevity and brand's reputation.

Looking for recommendations for best HiDPI monitor in Europe

I think the short answer to this is "nothing ticks all my boxes", but I'm keen to get some input from people here…

My 27" 5K ViewFinity S9 recently died (matching these symptoms). Fortunately it was within the 2 year warranty and Samsung are giving me a full refund 🎉

I now need to replace it and I'm struggling to find the ideal replacement.

Must haves

  • >200 ppi. I've been using 5K monitors since the first 5K iMac, aside from a brief period using a cheap 4K 27" LG that gave me eye-strain.
  • 500 nits. I really dislike dimmer displays. Plus this needs to sit side by side with my other ViewFinity S9 running at 500 nits. (Though hopefully my other S9 dies soon too)
  • Color accuracy. I'm not doing design work that often any more, so absolute colour accuracy is not essential. But I'm sensitive to colour issues, and any display that poorly handles light greys is an absolute deal breaker.
  • Sharp display. I'm ok with either matte or glossy, but an aggressive matte like on Asus PA32QCV would annoy me. The ViewFinity was "ok" in this regard.
  • Looks nice. Apple's monitor's are my ideal styling. I don't like bottom chins, especially with plastic strips like on the Kuycon G32X.
  • Supports Mac over Thunderbolt / USB-C. 99% of the time, I'm using the monitor for work.
  • Supports PC over DisplayPort / HDMI. While I mostly use my TV for gaming, I sometimes use my gaming PC in my office. My GPU only has DP / HDMI, and no USB-C out.

Nice to haves

  • High refresh rate. My TV tops out at 165Hz, so I'd be tempted to get a dual mode screen that can do 330Hz, which would be great for using a CRT beam shader for enhanced motion clarity, especially for playing retro games.
  • 6K resolution. I'm torn between using two 5K monitors, or one big 32 inch 6K monitor.
  • HDR. A mini-LED display with 1,000+ nits would be nice for gaming, irrelevant for work. I have an OLED TV for gaming, so this is just a nice to have.

Irrelevant: Webcam or speakers. I use a Sony mirrorless as my webcam, and headphones.

Budget: €2,000

Options I'm considering (prices include tax and delivery)

  • €1,700 – Apple Studio Display with VESA mount – As far as I know, it can't be used with a desktop PC GPU over a DisplayPort→USB-C cable. The price annoys me when I'd get a VESA mount without any option to swap it to an tilt+height adjustable stand in future if I change my desk setup.
  • €1,659 – Kuycon P27Z from Kuycon.it – High refresh rate support is handy. Looks great with the cheese grater back (even if it isn't nearly as nice as the XDR it apes). Nervous about future warranty support.
  • €1,040 – Kuycon G27X-SE from Kuycon.it – Looks nice, although the plastic frame might bug me. Nervous about future warranty support.
  • €2,150 – Kuycon G32P from Kuycon.it – Tempted to spend the extra money for a 6K monitor. Nervous about spending €2,100 with a company I don't know is going to be around 2 years from now to provide warranty support.
  • €1,400 – LG UltraGear evo 27GM950B – 900 nit HDR and 330Hz QHD are tempting. 700 nit SDR with local dimming disabled perfect for work. But it's ugly, and LG have an atrocious track record for HiDPI monitor quality.
    • UPDATE: RTings gave it a glowing review, which bodes well for quality.
    • ⚠️ But with local dimming enabled, RTings found it drops to 450nits after exactly three minutes, which can only be fixed by toggling local dimming off/on again. That's an atrocious bug. Hopefully it gets fixed because it ruins the whole point of a mini-LED HDR display.

Options I've ruled out

  • ❌ Benq 27" 5K displays (MA270S and PD2730S) – too ugly.
  • ❌ Asus ProArt displays (32" 6K and 27" 5K) – too ugly.
  • ❌ ViewSonic ColorPro 5K – too ugly.
  • ❌ LG UltraFine 6K 32" – Terrible colour uniformity issues. Hazy display.
  • ❌ Samsung Odyssey G8 6K 32" – Only 350nits, and off-axis dimming at the sides is noticeable while working.

Sadly nobody makes a Studio Display XDR with extra input types for €1,700 😂, so I'm struggling to find the ideal set of trade offs. Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Best solution for 5K dual-mode monitor?

So, I'm going to buy new 5K dual-mode monitor, which will be the 27" LG 27GM950B. I'm going to use 5K for desktop use and 1440p for most of the games. There comes the question: which solution is going to be the best from the technical point of view and give me best picture quality at 1440p?

  1. Use dual mode feature and switch to 1440p
  2. Keep native 5K resolution and switch resolution manually in-game to 1440p
  3. Keep native 5K resolution AND 5K in-game and use DLSS Performance, which will upscale from 1440p

I know that using dual-mode will give me 330Hz instead of 165, but I don't need that much, 165 is sufficient for me.

I'm leaning towards option 2 since I've heard that this monitor don't utilize integer scaling and 1440p is going to look more blurry than on a native 1440p monitor.

Analysis Paralysis: LG 27 inch 5k Mini LED or Samsung 32 inch 6k IPS? HELP!

ok you (fellow) nerds, I need your help. I cannot decide between the Lg 27 5k Mini LED (UltraGear evo GM9 27GM950B-B) and the Samsung 32 6k IPS (Samsung G8 G80HS).

I am fine with a matte finish, I currently have a 32 inch 4k glossy OLED and it is quite reflective (like a mirror) during the day time. I am also not a big fan of ABL/ASBL as I spend a lot of the day on excel (white background) and chrome (white background) and the dimming messes with my head and causes me to think I am losing my vision LOL. Prior to this 32 OLED, I had a 27 IPS 1080p matte monitor and the matte finish was fine, it did not bother me.

The Samsung costs a bit more yes, but that is irrelevant as I can afford both models for the purpose of this post. My primary draw to the Samsung is the fact that it is 32 inches and there is no equivalent 32 inch Mini-LED 5k or 6k on the market (at least in Canada). Both of these models have similar DPI.

Again, only thing really drawing me to the Samsung is the sheer amount of screen real estate. The LG is Mini-LED though....

Here is my personal use case:
The viewing distance between monitor and eyes is about 21 to 23 inches.

There is a big window beside me (6 feet away) that lets in lots of light during the day time (which is 50 to 60% of the time that I am using my computer) and the other 40 to 50% I am using it at night with the blinds down and the ceiling light turned on.

I am fine with NOT having super inky amazing dark blacks, but I do want "decent" blacks. I don't want dark grays.
I spend about 50% of my time doing work (excel, powerbi, Microsoft dynamics in chrome browser) and the other 50% is spend watching movies/youtube/browsing the web. The movies/youtube are either 1080p or 4k.

I don't even know where I would find 5k or 6k movies or tv shows. I am new to this.

Ok, so if you were me, do you get the LG or the Samsung?

Please don't be a genius and recommend me some random 3rd option. These are the only 2 options.

The monitor will be connected to a TB5 Dock with DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 capabilities so it will probably be plugged into the HDMI 2.1 Port.

The Samsung G80HS is awesome on PC

I've had the G80HS for a little over week and I've loved every moment. My main use is text work: forums (like Reddit), browser games, Excel, Word, etc etc. I also game. Mainly Sniper Elite 4. Text mode is the vast majority of my usage. I think this monitor would excel at CAD usage but I'm not a CAD guy.

Why did I buy the monitor? I am very much a fan of high PPI and the text on a 6k monitor is just much easier on the eyes. I'm not young any more! And games just look incredible at 6k.

Physically the monitor is big and too heavy for lesser VESA mounts. My monitor has no visible dead pixels.

I would have liked a second DisplayPort input.

I immediately missed my old monitor which had two USB ports on the side, which I used for a fingerprint reader and USB sticks. I relocated the reader to a hub on my desk. There are IMHO too few USB ports on the back: a business user will require at least four (keyboard, mouse, webcam, sound system), and a gamer will require many more (game devices, microphone, etc).

The white on this monitor is really bright - too bright for me, really - so I mostly operate in dark modes. Otherwise usability is pretty d*mn good! Text looks wonderful.

For gaming I've tried three GPUs: the Intel Arc B580, the Nvidia RTX 4090, and the AMD RX 9070 XT. The RTX 4090 would not operate above 60 Hz at 6k, because it has only DisplayPort 1.4 ports and the HDMI port is clearly HDMI 2 in name only. Note that with the B580 there is only one DP 2 port so you have to use the correct port. The Samsung 6k monitor is one of three, the other two being 4k 60 Hz monitors.

My main gaming is on Sniper Elite 4 which runs at 6k at high settings at well over 60 fps on the RX 9070XT.

The B580 is a beast at gaming at 6k on older games. 76 fps at medium settings on Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, this is faster than the RX 9070 XT (65 fps). Shadow of the Tomb Raider with XeSS balanced gives over 40 fps at medium settings (80 fps on the RX 9070 XT). Horizon Zero Dawn benches at 66 fps on medium settings and upscaling set to balanced (114 fps on the RX 9070 XT). I'm aware that these are older games but I don't have new ones. Note that the B580 system has a Ryzen 7700 and the RX 9070 XT has a Ryzen 9800X3D so the results are not strictly comparable, but at 6k I expect gaming to be GPU-bound. I haven't tested at 3k but there are plenty of 4k benchmarks around.

Who should buy this monitor? Anyone who values their eyes for starters! Beyond that this monitor seems to me to be for professionals who work during the day and game in the evening and weekends.

Recommendation for 5K or 6K glossy usable with macOS, Linux and Windows

I have been looking to replace my old iiyama ProLite XUB2792QSU (27" IPS 2560*1440) with a 5K (27") or 6K (32") monitor, now that I regularly work on macOS (with a MacBook), for text clarity and reduce eye fatigue (BTW, I'm already using defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 3, without it's a crime designed by Apple to make text looks horrible on non-HiDPI monitors). I also have a desktop machine which runs both Linux & Windows and I want to use the same monitor for both.

I have tried the BenQ PD2730S and I'm rather disappointed:

  • The screen looks very grainy to me, i.e. white isn't white and I feel this reduces the perceived sharpness a lot. I can't see such grain on the iiyama.
  • When uniformity is enabled (default) the max brightness is very low
  • When uniformity is disabled the max brightness is much better but I can see brightness varies a lot by viewing angle (I'm sitting 4--50cm from the screen), so color actually varies significantly between the center and edges of the screen, even the bottom is noticeably different. Moving the screen upper so my eyes are really in the center vs 2/3 of the height helps a bit, but it feels like a workaround and still not perfect. Moving my head in any direction clearly shows different level of brightness by viewing angle.
  • On the plus side it's easy to connect (has USB-C, DP, etc), the Hotkey Puck is great to adjust brightness and the KVM works well. And it ships with lots of cables.

I have tried the Apple Studio Display & Apple Studio Display XDR at the shop, in glossy they both look clean & great to me, no graining there. In the nano-textured glass variant they look grainy to me, basically same as BenQ PD2730S to me, so I guess that means it's glossy or nothing for me in 5K/6K.

  • The trouble with Apple displays is then I would need to use DisplayPort Alt Mode (which may or may not work with my GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER). And some kind of Thunderbolt switch or so which sounds expensive and hard to find.
  • Also the brightness can't be adjusted without connecting a MacBook to it, which is quite lame (I don't care much for the webcam & speakers). Though not a deal killer as my macbook would be on my desk anyway.

What other glossy options are there in 5K or 6K that would be worth looking into? I'd like an image like the Apple Studio Display but more usable on Linux & Windows (i.e. a DisplayPort input ideally. And an integrated KVM so the keyboard & mouse follow the monitor input automatically).

I have heard of the BenQ MA270S in https://www.reddit.com/r/HiDPI_monitors/s/Uy06dOUZPR

Any other good glossy option in 5K/6K, ideally with a DisplayPort input and integrated KVM? (I'm in Europe if that matters)

Anyone with a rtings membership here?

I'd really like to know a bit about the LG and Apple XDR comparison, https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/lg-27gm950b-b-vs-apple-studio-display-xdr/131554/133968

I'm not asking for the full review, I know one is supposed to pay for it, but I'd love to see how bad motion is on the Apple display and just that info is a bit expensive (I don't buy new monitors every year xD). I know it's no gaming monitor but I mostly work anyways and despite the outrageous price I'm still considering it (mostly because you can't preorder the LG one over here.... so no 200 euro bonus).

I guess the LG display isn't too shabby in comparison, probably like 90% there for working if you calibrate it but I figure if I buy a new monitor I'll get the best I can.

Thank you!

EDIT: Got a monthly subscription thanks to angus_the_red telling me there's that option as well. The motion handling on the XDR is actually really terrible. Also it apparently causes much more eye strain. That is something to keep in mind if you got bad eyes like me.
