what is your process when you want to become educated on a topic?

Hello! If you want to be an angel and help me, I will be indebted to you!

I have a topic that i am interested in and it crosses a few areas like psychology, biology, culture, etcetera. When you have a topic like this that you are interested in, what is your process to becoming informed on it? Do you try find the "best" books? Do you have some reliable sites where access articles or essays or data? What are your favorite ways of diving into something new when you aren't quite sure of the "shape of it" yet? Thanks :)

Different perspectives on goal setting?

Do you have experience with this?

Setting long term goals is quite hard, especially if there's not really much you feel motivated to work towards and especially if you seem to change your mind a lot. Have you figured out some sort of way to set goals and direct yourself at something? Or maybe even something you use to replace this, not really looking at long term outcomes, but setting weekly challenges or something? Anything you have to share is a big help.

Does anyone have some advice for this?

Do you get empty feeling and sort of feel that there is a missing part in your understanding that has to be filled in but you don’t quite know what it is or what you are looking for? How do you navigate this? Can you pass on some wisdom? Does anyone else’s learning process feel like an itch that you can’t scratch until finally something clicks?

An uninformed bit of "advice"

Narrative. I've struggled with doing things in the past (and still do). Something that has helped me: I don't look at things like "chores", if something has to be done in my home it is "Keeping my palace clean". If you know what i mean? It makes all the difference. I'm trying to see how this can be used in all parts of my life and then overall really, bringing the entire narrative of my life together in a coherent way and i think it will be effective.

What do you think are the most important deciding factors when it comes to getting a degree?

Is it best to have the experience and keep your options open?
Should you only really do it if you have been able to keep your head down and study through school and such?
Should you get a degree if you are quite unsure of future paths?
Should you not do it if you aren't the reading and studying type?

A bit more context:

I'm 27. Didn't like school. Have completed received my electrical trade license. Have always preferred doing things on my own but i am very unsure of the future and thinking maybe i should keep my options open. I do quite a bit of learning in my spare time but its undisciplined (but becoming more disciplined). Quite an out-of-the-box person so that's why i've ran away from institutions - they feel paralyzing to me but im also putting myself together more and more over the years and that does effect how well i can function within bigger structures and on a schedule and such. You can see what i'm dealing with here!!!! haha. Thanks.

Aesthetics as a motivator?

I’m not someone who is necessarily super creative or looking for places surrounded by art, it doesn’t seem to be that correlated to the super obvious forms of aesthetics but; have you found places or work environments or careers that are infused with aesthetic value? Have you noticed this yourself? I think even just how the whole job operates; within a structure that is energising due to its beauty, the presentation of the job, how it feels in the moment and as an overall philosophy….?

I know this probably sounds pretentious af but I think there is genuine merit in this being a motivator and I don’t really know where and how to find these things.

What are the best ways you’ve found to learn?

Do you circle the same ideas and try to find as many books on it? Do you read much of an authors work and try to understand what they are saying? Do you use multiple mediums within the same learning sessions? Do you follow an idea and try to find the chapter that covers this, within a book?

What are your best findings when it comes to learning better?

Deceased grandparent living situation

Hello,

3 months ago the grandparent I was caring for passed away. I was living with her for 2 years when she was sick up until she passed. I’m still living in her home but the other family members (one who is power of attorney) says I have one month to leave. Do I have any right to assert that I need longer to stay? I’m still trying to find somewhere else to live and one month isn’t very long. They are quite callous people and hard to negotiate with and I’m not sure where I even stand. Thank you for your help.

Do you have an awake at night-time schedule?

Hey I’m struggling to…. survive… so I’m going to try and switch push back my sleeping schedule. Is there a noticeable difference for you in motivation and productivity? Do you work at night? Did it take long to figure out your sleep schedule and lots of adjustments? Do you sleep pretty consistently around the same time now? What time do you sleep and wake? Any info is helpful… thank you 🙌🏻🙌🏻

What do guys think about someone saving an image from a platform and posting it to another with the photographers handle in the caption as a “look how cool this is“? Would a photographer be happy you are sharing their work? Or Is it annoying and not quite the etiquette?
