I’m tired of getting pulled in all directions. I have no help.

Our office took a conflict case for a fellow PD where the courthouse is about an hour away. This means the drive time alone is a 2 hour round trip, not including whatever time we spend in court.

Well, I was able to negotiate a plea for an alternative court program for this client, and I got her set for plea. Well, I did not have time to visit her in the jail ahead of time to do the plea paperwork, and I figured I could just do it in court with her as I had in other situations.

Well, the judge would not allow it because today the court reporter was on a tight schedule, so the case was reset for next Thursday. The problem is that I’m going to have to scramble to get back to this courthouse again on time.

At least I got the paperwork completed with the client today, but I’m getting burnt out. I don’t have any real help in the office, and my boss is so lazy he does not want to do anything.

How common is theft amongst hotel staff?

I’m a paranoid sort of person when it comes to my property. I usually don’t carry anything special with me to hotels, but the thought of housekeeping or someone else rummaging through my luggage makes me uneasy.

How common is theft from hotel staff?

I don’t get taken seriously by anyone. My clients, the judges, and the prosecutors.

I’m just the lousy PD who represents the lowest of the low, and the law is always against me.

My arguments almost always fail, and I may as well just a warm body that shepards my clients to a guilty plea or prison.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else? My gosh it’s exhausting.

But, there isn’t much I can do about it either.

How easy are malpractice claims?

I’ll try to limit the details in this as much as possible.

I’m a newish attorney who does not do a lot of civil law, and my boss handed me a child support case he thought would be a good starting point for me, and said we would do it together.

The guy got served a summons for paternity and child support in tribal court, and he does not live on the reservation. He lives in Missouri.

Well, when my boss and I were doing his initial consultation, he indicated that he was not opposed to participating in this lawsuit, so we never brought up PJ in our first response, so it has been waived.

Here is the thing: Under both Missouri and tribal/Oklahoma law, this guy is screwed.

He had his doubts as to whether this kid was his when it was born, but signed the acknowledgement of paternity in Missouri anyways, which is just as effective as a court order finding him to be the father. 6 years go by and he takes no action, and the two separated recently. Now she is coming after him for child support, and moved to the tribal court to sue him for child support there.

Long story short, he is getting screwed in tribal court like he would have been in state court.

But, under Montana v. United States, there is a strong chance there is a lack of SMJ, and I filed a motion to dismiss based on that. The judge has not ruled on it yet.

I’m worried that he is going to claim malpractice, saying that it’s our fault that PJ was waived. What do you all think?

EDIT: I should also add that there has been a recent generic test done showing this guy is not the biological father. This is why he is so upset about having to pay.

I just got a pair of pleated pants, and only just now realized that the pleats will probably wear out over time. How do I take care of them?

I just got a new suit, and I decided to get double pleated pants because I like the way they look. This is my first pair of pleated pants, as I’ve always used flat pants.

How do I take care of the pleats? Do I just gently iron them?

I feel so awkward. I accidentally called my boss “dad.”

I do not think of this guy as a father figure at all, but he reminds me of my dad quite a bit.

It only came out for a second, then I caught myself, and quickly said sorry.

This is so embarrassing.

Edit: This is not a troll post. This actually happened and I feel terrible. I did not sleep much last night and I’m pretty sure that had something to do with it. I’m seeing all these meme posts springing up because of this, and I just wanted to clarify that I am not joking.

Does anyone have any experience with Windstream (Kinetic)?

I’m looking for privacy friendly ISPs (if such a thing exists), and am considering Windstream.

Do they have a good privacy policy? What exactly do they monitor and are they invasive?

I closed out of the new window within a few seconds or so, and I did not download anything, and to the best that I can tell nothing was automatically downloaded. But, this still makes me so nervous. Do I need to take any action?
