My coding skills are cooked after using agents for only a year

It’s weird like I can understand codes and troubleshoot like if I’m looking through a code I can understand what it’s doing and if there’s an error in my log I can generally figure out why after looking through but my syntax and ability to code from scratch or actually fix a code without agents sucks now…

I want to leave my current job but I feel like I’m so cooked when it comes to coding screens. I’m doing leet code and making stupid syntax errors or not really remembering how to set up certain functions and in general I’m just not as sharp. I would not say I was a coding champ or anything before but i can feel the loss of skill.

The crazy thing is I have only been using agents to do coding for less than 2 years and this is happening…am I screwed?

Short term leave for stress- how do I go about it?

I just need a break. I’m constantly dealing with deadlines and politics. Sometimes I have days where I’m not even that busy but being in a matrix environment with stacked ranking, I have to deal with people including my product owner trying to throw me under the bus or trying to steal credit for my work and ideas.

It’s gotten to the point where it’s made me physically sick- as in I literally had to run to the toilet to vomit 🤢

I tried therapy on and off and I’m currently seeing a therapist- medication is a no for me because I get horrible side effects and rebound anxiety. I’d like to take a short term leave to get my body and mind right but I don’t know how to go about. Do I have to see a MD or would a therapist be able to recommend a leave for me? With all the layoffs, I’ve been weary of asking HR. Any advice?

Anyone else’s work environment getting worse and worse and no one cares cause the ultimate goal is to reduce headcount? My company has been doing it all: forced RTO with in office tracking, matrix environment where you have no manager for support with people fighting for good projects, stack ranking pitting you against your peers, constant layoffs and outsourcing with those left expected to pick up the work, being forced to use a new AI tool every other day with usage tracked… I could go on and on.

Honestly I’m just tired. It feels like the hunger games and everyone is just trying to hold onto a job because bills are due. I hope everyone is taking care. I’m personally getting to a point where I don’t even care anymore and I can’t afford to because my mental and physical health just can’t take it anymore lol

Net worth fluctuates due to the stock market but I’m at $1.3 M net worth in my mid 30s and I still worry about about losing my job all the time. I have been struggling with anxiety due to the stress of my job and constant layoffs as well as stack ranking and feeling like I would struggle to find a job in a tough market.

I have half in retirement accounts and the rest currently sitting in my brokerage. I’m feeling a little discouraged because after closing on my house I would be literally left with no cash except my emergency fund and after hustling so hard and saving I feel like I am still so far from having financially stability for life.

I know I’m lucky to have a paid off house in my 30s even if it is a modest one and having a solid retirement but I feel like I have a long way to meet that goal of not having to worry so much. What would you say is that ‘magic number’ and how far am I from it?

I’ve had a few people tell me that it’s better to buy a used car because cars depreciate so much in the first few years but looking at listings I don’t see it’s that much cheaper with how much the price of cars have gone up with resales. Is there more room to negotiate on used cars? I am not using financing so that won’t factor into my decision.

I’m debating on either buying a new SUV AWD or used 1-3 years and I’d like to get the best deal.
