The picture presents A rubik’s cube that i was trying to make from scratch and animate a rubik movement, for example, solving a cube (rather than js making a cube float). I created small cube blocks that the highlighted yellow nodes in the series, left right and down are present, each connected to a transform node that Defines their initial position. I have selected the right series to present how each layer is arranged (horizontally as above). Similarly the left and down nodes represent middle and bottom horizontal layers respectively. The layers connect to a merge and then the output merge.

I can simply connect a layer’s merge to transform3d and rotate it 90 Degrees which clears out one part of animation.
Text 3: (3rd and 4th Picture)
Now, when we play around with X and Z values, we see movements that are not so rubik. And that’s not the most of it, i knew this would happen. But Finding a problem is not enough, we need a solution.

As a beginner and a laptop editor, it’s already hard for me to understand and navigate around properly. Now as we would animate the second part in any layer based software, such as AE, we would select the next frontal layer and add a Null layer as use it as a controller. But here, the nodes that i have arranged presents a flaw, we can’t easily add another merge and transform to rotate the frontal part or any vertical part. So now, we are stuck with animating the Y part only.
I for sure know one thing that it is some structural flaw created by me which I myself cannot navigate through, and therefore, i want the help from the community to teach me how to create and Animate a Rubik’s cube. I want to know if i can continue from this place or i have to restart from scratch.
Please provide steps to be followed and even pictures(if possible) that help me navigate through the steps better. I will very Thankful to you for this.
I am a DaVinci above beginner guy, and i was working with 3D camera movement in which i wanted to mess around with the splines to get some smooth movements. Ultimately, i did get my desired results, but i think there must more professional and a more calculated way of handling complex splines that help me animate things better. So yea guys please give me suggestions on how can i improve my workflow and animate things better.
I recently posted a reddit about how a small part of behind the scenes of my most recent project looked horrific (it was very unorganised). I later got suggestions from the community to use “Underlays and Groups”. I was familiar with groups but underlays was a completely new thing. Even though my project was complete, as a beginner, i dived into the project again to “organise” the stuff. I learnt that i could use multiple merge-3d nodes ,instead of just a single one ,and then connect them to the single master one. Anyways, here is an After and Before comparison. Suggestions are welcomed in the comments!!
Just Because people were curious about the last reddit i posted in which i shared a fusion timeline and asked about some suggestions, i am posting this project here to have some feedback about the final result. This took 5+ hours of to edit but yea i am a beginner so can’t blame. This was also posted on YouTube and i am very curious about how the DaVinci Community perceives this as. Also, the timeline images are shared in the comments.
This is a small part of behind the scenes of my newest video that i posted on my YouTube and trust me the results are promising( at least imo haha). Working in Fusion can be tricky but fun, i gave 5+ Hours in this edit and it came out well. For an above beginner level, is this considered good?😭🙏
I have been using DaVinci Resolve 20 (on my mac M4 16 GB) for a while and i come across many paid features which i apparently can’t use cause i don’t have the studio version. This makes me wonder that how far will this Free Version will take me and how much will my life become easier with tha paid tools. Any Experts please help!!
