Testing Fallout 2 with Diablo style realtime combat and follow camera

So, this is something I've been desiring for a long time, always loved Fallout 1 and 2, but have always disliked turn-based combat and the weird camera. I got over these bugbears ages ago, I mean the combat rules in classic fallout once you're leveled up and kitted out, camera still sucks but at least there is a centering button.

Ages ago I watched a game dev conference where a programmer of Diablo mentioned that the combat started turn based, but then they implemented a tick system rather last minute to give it real time combat, I thought to myself well if Diablo can, so Fallout could to maybe. I then tried to modify Fallout 2 with a hex editor and well I ain't a programmer and Community Edition didn't exist yet so yeah that went basically no where except a bluescreen. Anyways, I had the realization that Diablo and Fallout have both been reverse engineered now so why not try and combine them with the AI slop machine to satiate a teenage desire. Setup Codex yesterday, had it rewrite CE and DevolutionX in the Wicked Engine, and got this prototype today after some back and forth. Pretty wild stuff, even has the Wall and Ceiling transparency behavior of Diablo.

Still not sure how I feel about all this AI coding stuff, I mean its cool I can do this, but boy does it have some dangerous potential.

Finally Found an Original Phat in Good Nick

Like many people, when I got a DS I started off with the lite model, but I was always aware of the Phat models since a cousin had one. To put it simply: The design amused me as from the top down it's just a GBA SP that has tumorous growths coming out of the sides. It speaks to how the original DS wasn't aimed at the casual audience that bought into the Wii, but more towards, well, gamers, it's got the GameCube quirkiness I suppose.

It certainly wasn't better than a lite, I mean finding one with a intact hinge was a journey, and when you squeeze it the thing squeaks like a busted bed frame, and the screens have poor viewing angles, but since its bulkier and more rounded it does fit adult hands better than a lite, and its got clicky buttons like the DSi/SP which makes drifting in Mario Kart easier.

I dunno, it's pretty neat. I lot of people I've seen speak about this model on YouTube never actually seem to have owned one and seem to kinda talk out their ass about its flaws, now that I've handled one myself I think it's kinda peak in its own way. Glad I got one.
