Anyone else collect empty pop bottles to buy candy? Or did you use the deposit money to buy more soda?

Sometimes we went around town with our red wagon even asking neighbors if they had any empty pop bottles. It was fun, and a good way to get some candy and other treats at the corner store. One of my favorite memories while visiting my cousins in the summer. What did you buy with your extra money?

The 1965 television version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

This movie was the first remake of the classic musical, it originally aired in 1965(and repeated annually til 1977). Lesley Ann Warren starred as Cinderella and Stuart Damon as the Prince. It also starred Celeste Holm(Fairy Godmother), Walter Pidgeon(the King), Ginger Rogers(the Queen). My mom would make sure to turn this on every year for us to watch. It was such a beautiful movie and musical. I have watched it several times recently as it has been streaming. My 30 year old daughter watched it with me and enjoyed it. What are your memories of this fairytale movie?

Remember Edith Ann? Lily Tomlin and that huge rocking chair! Her iconic line “And that’s the truth” followed by a noisy raspberry was funny every time.

🎃🎃It’s Pumpkin Regatta time!

I recently learned about this Fall sport and thought it looked really cool and fun. Such big homegrown pumpkins.

“3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost”. A little romance, a little mystery, and one very opinionated houseguest who happens to be a ghost. A perfect movie for Fall and Halloween.

🍂👻Stars Julie Gonzalo, Chris McNally and Madeleine Arthur as Ruby. An old house, an unfinished love story, and a glamorous ghost who has her own ideas about matchmaking. This is one of my favorites to rewatch during Fall and at Halloween. What are your favorite moments from this movie? What time of year do enjoy watching it?

“Growing the Big One”(2010). One of my favorite classic Hallmark Fall movies.

This movie is one of my favorites that I watch every year. Stars Kavan Smith and Shannen Doherty. The character that Kavan Smith plays is a very relaxed and down to earth mechanic. Shannen Doherty’s is a radio talk-show host who inherits her grandpa’s farm. Together they nurture and grow a big pumpkin. These two have cute on-screen chemistry. It’s really fun to know that people actually grow these huge pumpkins.

“One December Night”(2021). I didn’t recognize this movie until I rewatched it last week. It reminds me of a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. I really enjoyed it.

This is a comedy/drama with a great cast including Eloise Mumford, Brett Dalton, Peter Gallagher, Bruce Campbell and Didi Conn. Quinn and Jason must reunite their estranged rock singer Dads for a televised rock concert. This movie deals with the serious subject of Alzheimer’s. No matter which actors are together in any given scene they give a heartfelt performance. I highly recommend this uplifting holiday movie if you haven’t seen it yet.

“A Feeling of Home”(2019)I came across this movie after years of seeing it and fell in love with it again.

This cute, romantic movie stars Nathan Parsons and Jonna Walsh. Also, Robby Benson as her Dad. A young lady returns to her roots to help out at her Dad’s ranch in Texas, and reconnects with her high school boyfriend. The cast has a lot of chemistry which makes the movie very enjoyable. The setting is really pretty. In this one, the girl doesn’t leave her job in the city to stay with the man she loves in the country, they are both able to hold on to their dreams and on to each other.
