Stand up photography
Just curious if stand up comedy shows approve photo passes like concerts do. Anybody who has shot photos of a comedy show before, how did yall get the job?

Hello,
I have a photo pass for Big Thief’s show in Detroit today. I’m trying to figure out what time they typically take the stage so I know when I need to be there but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer. Does anybody who went to a show on this tour show know when they usually start their set? Doors open at 6:00 for this show in particular. How long after doors do they wait before taking the stage?
Thank you!
I just got my first job working with a publication as a photographer and have my first assignment coming up next week!
They emailed me to let me know I have been approved for 1 photo pass and 1 review ticket. I’m assuming a review ticket is like a photo pass for the publication to write a show review. My question is are they expecting me to write the review? I’m not opposed to it. I enjoy writing but I only applied to the publication as a photographer and when i submitted the request for the show I only selected the checkbox for photo submission, not for a show review as well.
Any photographers out there working with publications who might know the answer? Is the review ticket for someone else to write the review or am I expected to do it? Does anybody with writing experience have any advice on how to go about writing a show review if I do wind up doing it?
This might be a silly question but if an opener gets you a photo pass does that allow you access to stay and shoot the main artist as well or is it only valid for the opener exclusively?
Got a media pass to shoot Yebba in Michigan on her tour. Lmk what you think!
Got to shoot yebba for my second ever concert gig. LMK your thoughts!
Yesterday I made a post about an artists management having me sign an NDA to shoot their photos with a media pass. It basically stated that I am not allowed to disclose the events of the concert or share my photos with anyone.
Today the manager reached back out asking to follow up about the signature. Apparently the email did not go through and they do not have the signed form.
Now stay with me… how horrible would it be if I do not respond to the email with a signed form? Would that backfire on me?
I obtained a photo pass for a medium sized concert tonight. They sent me an email about 20 minutes before I left for the show asking me to sign and return a non disclosure agreement. Basically saying not to disclose any of the events or share any of the photos with anyone and that I cannot post the pictures on social media without written consent. Is this a common thing in the industry? If so how strict are they on that social media rule? Will it be hard to get written consent?
EDIT: I signed the NDA, didn’t have much time to think since they threw it at me super last minute. Coming to the realization that I probably shouldn’t have, but at least I got more experience and can say I’ve shot my biggest artist so far. Hoping for the best now to get approval to post a few for my portfolio.
Anybody who’s been to a show recently, Does she have any openers? If so how many? What time does she typically come out at?
What do you guys find is the best method to secure a photo pass for a concert?
I got lucky getting a response from the band directly for my first shoot but what works best when contacting at least somewhat successful bands?
Do you just reach out to multiple artists every day?
Through social media?
Or manager emails?
Do you shoot for publications?
If so, how do you get started with a publication?
Do the publications find gigs for you or does it just help to be associated with them when contacting artists?
I’d love any details on what works best for you guys.
Thank you!
Just wanted to share some of my favorite photos from my first concert shoot!

Hey again everybody!
A few weeks ago I made a post here asking for advice on how to handle my first photo pass. Well here are the results. Let me know how I did and thanks for all your help!
EDIT: Ignore the one half photo on the 14th slide lol, didn’t mean to include that.
Hey everyone,
I’m photographing Foxy’s performance for their show in Pontiac, MI tonight. Probably should’ve figured this out earlier but I’m just now finding out there’s like 4 other bands on tour with them. Are all these openers going to be at every show with them? I’m just trying to figure out what time Foxy typically comes out so I know when to be there. I only have a media pass to shoot for them not everyone else.
Thank you!
