Well it’s officially all gone thanks to UPS…

As I posted like 6 weeks ago here, UPS lost all my Masters gear I shipped home from Augusta, roughly 1600 dollars of gifts, presents and memories.….gone. After ”working“ on it for a month plus they sent me a text yesterday saying they are closing the case and just refunding me the money. I also had a Gnome and other stuff which makes this particularly heartbreaking.

What really infuriates me is while it is 1600 bucks of stuff it is closer to 5k if I was to see it‘s value on EBay so in a way I feel like I lost a lot of money. What an absolute bummer and no joke I just had a bad feeling this year when I handed them the merch to ship home that something bad could happen.

What a sour taste - I actually got like 6 super cool Navy blue hoodies for my nephews who love to golf to each have and those are gone. Stuff like that. Still processing it all…..so angry.

Total knee replacement advice for those who are considering it or getting it done

Three weeks into this thing (58 male) and the mental part is by far the hardest. I can walk without anything now, have 120 degree range of motion, riding a bike etc.. HOWEVER the hardest part of this surgery is the mental part by A MILE especially when you add lack of sleep to it. Still haven’t slept a night with 4 hours or more sleep. Super tough on me.

I wasn’t misled by anybody but the implication from the medical teams was that by week 4-6 I’d be pretty much be close to fine and by week 6 plus I’d be normal. It just isn’t the case I’m realizing now and as a result I’m mentally frustrated, deflated and very tired. Cooking dinner or making a coffee is still a project and exercise in frustration. Everyone heals different - you just have to trust the process.

So my advice to anyone doing this is be kind to yourself and give yourself grace in healing. It’s going to take 30 percent longer than whatever they tell you and it is tough. Expect to be down for a long time and it will help with the mental part alot which is critical. Expect to be on the couch or in a chair week 3-4 for a large part of the day icing because odds are you’re gonna be. I didn’t comprehend that at first or fathom it and I paid the price mentally for it

Take this for what it’s worth.

Got total replacement 11 days ago it went great. Got a nerve blocker the day of the surgery which lasted a week, I highly recommend this if they offer it. It really helped with the initial pain I think. I don’t know what’s going on though and my mental space sucks. I can walk without a cane or a walker now - hobble around a bit but not far Like walking a quarter mile and that’s it.

My biggest frustration is first lack of sleep and second being so dependent on others still.

The sleep part is brutal. Some nights I get 2-3 hours others, like last night, I’d be surprised if I got an hour. Nothing works and pain pills don’t really help. Pain pills are a whole other topic too. I get it but they act like everyone is an addict these days. Super tiring how hard it is to get refills.

Second is having to depend on your wife or kids to get a coffee, food or whatever sucks. You can’t drive or do anything. You just sit around all day and it gets boring fast.

As the swelling goes down I swear I can feel the components and metal more. Just mentally tired from good sleep is the real issue. I think by next weekend I’ll be like 60 percent.

You can’t have phones on the property obviously but there are old school phones all over the property you can use. If you lose your group it’s pretty much over finding them as is on property.

My idea, the Masters uses their partner in IBM and develop their AI tech to have Ai bots you can call on the phone and leave a message or get a message. So you go to the phone stations dial 811 say — speak your name and the AI bot tells you if you have a message or if you want to leave a message for someone. This way you can check in with friends throughout the day easily. It wouldn’t be that difficult to set this up and it wouldn’t interfere or wreck the tradition of the Masters one bit.
Just an idea
