Day trips from Hanoi

I'm travelling to Vietnam with my family (wife, 2 kids), my inlaws and dad (all in their 70s).

We went to Hanoi and Halobg last year.

When our whole group is together we will be doing the below.

Hanoi old quarter - 2 nights

Ninh Binh - 4 nights

Halong Bay area - 5 nights

My family and I are arriving 2 nights before my inlaws/dad.

We will be in the Hanoi Old Quarter, can anyone recommend a good place to visit outside of the old quarter, maybe catching a train? Kids might enjoy it. Maybe for half a day?

Thanks

Bought this as a PSA 9 a few years back, worth sending in again?

To me it seems a little bottom heavy, though not overly.

What are your thoughts? Would you unslab and send it?

The value difference a PSA 9 and PSA 10 is substantial.

Ha Long bay area

We stayed in the Ha Long bay area for a few nights, we went on a day cruise whilst there.

I have heard various people comment that it's too busy or other negative comments, same people that did a overnight cruise then went straight back to Hanoi.

We found the tourist part of the city extremely quiet and we had our hotel's facilities to ourselves for a lot of the time.

We enjoyed it so much we're going back again though for longer.

Ha Long Bay atea

I hear alot of people complaining about Ha Long bay being busy. The places the cruises stop at are busy, though the actual city is very quiet.

We stayed a few minutes nights there and did a day cruise.

The tourist part of the city was extremely quiet. Though there was close city)large town that was great to walk around to feel some Viet culture.

We had our hotel pool to ourselves alot of the time.
