Question - Moving away from target date fund

I have a large sum in a Target Date Fund in my rollover / traditional IRA . The reason was because the company I was with had limited options in their 401K and it made sense at the time.

Now, I'm considering whether this FIOFX. Fidelity Freedom Index Fund 2045, is still the right fit for me at this stage. As I’ve reviewed the allocation, I’m wondering if the target-date structure — particularly the bond and international exposure — may be creating more return drag than I really need given my risk tolerance and goals.

I’m considering simplifying the portfolio into something more intentional and US-focused, roughly:

65% FXAIX

20% QQQ

15% SGOV

I'm more aggressive in general with my Roth (100% stocks) - still have my current 401K in another TDF but my thinking is that this would give me more control over the allocation while still keeping a conservative anchor through SGOV rather than the broader target-date approach.

Would appreciate any thoughts and feedback.

We had to say goodbye

Said goodbye to our boy today. He was a black lab with a golden heart.

Diagnosed with a brain tumor a few weeks back and it progressed so quickly. We were prepared but not really. Soul crushing ☹️

First / Last beach trip

Out 11 yr old boy has been walking in circles and rear legs have started to slip out from under him. It came upon so suddenly. As we expected, he was diagnosed with an intracranial tumor. He has literally been the best and smartest dog I’ve ever known. At his age, the risk of putting him under anesthesia and or chemo simply doesn’t make sense so we are celebrating every moment possible. He loves his walks and car rides but tires quickly We had a beach trip planned with the dogs (16 month old Golden) and while it wasn’t exactly how we planned, due to him tiring quickly had the best first day ever at the beach.

11 yr Black Lab has started to walk veer to the right when walking on a leash. When at home, he circles and is occasionally running into the wall and has been having trouble at times with his right rear leg giving out. However, If you say the words "do you want to go for a walk?" He comes running - does great the entire time albeit veering and is happy as can be. He always has an appetite and plays regularly with our 16 month old Golden. He is tiring more recently and panting heavy at times but not anything out of the ordinary. He is still the same Lab every day, just slowing down a bit

The Vet found that he does have Yeast in his ears and gave us drops for 10 days but thinks there is something more going on -might be possibly neurological related and recommended a specialist to check him out further and potentially have an MRI. Said that will tell her if she can treat whatever is found. ( steroid if benign vs if cancer)

The closest / quickest availability for an MRI is 90 miles away - which is fine and they charge about $250 for the consult. Again, fine. But wanting to understand the cost of the MRI if they say we should go that route? We are waiting for a call back to understand options and costs of MRI.

He's been my guy since 9 weeks old and we don't want to simply throw money at a problem if it isn't going to give him a decent quality of life, especially being an older guy. Just sick thinking about the options
