We are a volunteer network dedicated to helping at-risk dogs. We are not affiliated with BARC. We connect at-risk animals at the BARC shelter with the adopters, fosters, and rescue organizations needed to save their lives. We can help coordinate out-of-state adoption through approved 501c3 rescues. Please message the OP for information and a link to an application form. BARC Houston cannot facilitate out-of-state adoption or foster.

📝 Shelter Notes:

8/14/26: Frasier was found as one of six loose dogs at Coolwood Head Start.

💖 Frasier is just an 11-week-old baby who has already had a difficult start to life. At only 11 pounds, he arrived at the shelter with an older fracture to his front right leg that has been healing crooked. Despite his injury, the shelter notes that he can be adopted as he is, with further veterinary care pursued later if needed. This little puppy deserves the chance to grow up in a safe, loving home instead of losing his life at the shelter.

🩺 Medical Notes:

8/14/26: Front right leg appeared to have an older injury/break. Frasier was limping.

8/15/26: Frasier's front right leg appears to have an older injury/fracture with a large, hard callus just above the carpus. He is limping. The fracture is healing but is crooked/deviated laterally. The shelter notes that his limp appears to be related more to the crooked healing than pain. He can be adopted in his current condition, with further veterinary care pursued later if desired.

this is my big boy, leo (2015-2025), who passed last october. he was the bestest, silliest, most handsomest boy ever. he’s my best friend, my big baby, my “floor time” buddy, my food scrap vacuum. i miss him every day of my life. he is truly irreplaceable, sometimes i feel so lost without him. i miss his tippy-taps, barking out the window, his tail wagging and hitting everything, the dead patch of grass he layed on for almost 11 years in my backyard. he’d greet me when i’d come home from school or work no matter what time, cuddle with my mom at 8 PM sharp, expect his dinner at 4:30-5 PM sharp. he loved deer antlers and his “orange ball”. such a smart boy, such a light in my life. my sweet big handsome boy 🥰💞

also: can anyone explain how he’s a black lab-retriever? he’s half golden retriever and half chocolate lab, same with the rest of his litter. we never found that out. thank ya lmao

Now I have to make the bed over Bobo then he pulls all the covers off when I brush my teeth. I come back to bed he is snoring with all his friends.

When LILA arrived at the shelter on 5/27/26, she was in heartbreaking condition and desperately needed medical care. Because she was housed in the medical unit, she remained hidden from public view, leaving this sweet girl with little chance of being seen by potential adopters.

Today, LILA has regained so much of her health and has finally been moved to Kennel 3C04. Sadly, instead of finding safety, she now faces an even greater risk. She can be euthanized at any time simply because she needs a kennel space. Even after everything she’s endured, she still hasn’t been spayed.

LILA fought to survive. Now she just needs someone to fight for her.
