Tips to improve?

Hi all. I learned how to snowboard 10 years ago. I probably had 10 lessons and went to the slope regularly for a couple of months. However, I didn't go again for 7 years, which was a snowboarding holiday to La Plagne. I really struggled throughout the trip and felt defeated coming home. It's been 3 years since then and I've just booked another trip to La Plagne for Jan 2027. I've decided to get ahead of the practice this time around, and the video above is from this evening.

I am pretty rubbish 😂 I used to be much better 10 years ago, but I just can't seem to get my mojo back. I feel like I'm going entirely off of "feel", and I'm probably just doing it all wrong. I've been watching YouTube videos on how to improve, but it just never translates haha. Anyways, I got someone to record me in the hope that others might be able to give me some pointers on things I might be doing wrong! Any tips or suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks.

Edelrid Pinch backup carabiner

Hi all,

As much as I like the Pinch, I can certainly see why some people get a bit worried about it opening (come on down, Pinch 2). I know it is perfectly safe if used correctly, but I much prefer the idea of a 2-step unlock process. So, I think I'd like to use a mini carabiner to hook through the Pinch as a backup when it is attached directly to my harness. Maybe one day I'll feel comfortable enough to not do that, but for now that's my plan.

So, do you think it needs to be a carabiner that can handle a decent amount of load? Or realistically speaking, will something light and not very strong be fine? I'd be interested to see an experiment were someone attaches a Pinch to a harness, puts the backup carabiner through the hole, unlocks the Pinch, and then tests a fall with weights. I feel like something light would handle it, but I'm happy to be told otherwise!

P.S. I know I could use a normal sized HMS carabiner, but I'd rather use something smaller like a Mammut mini workhorse.

Thanks 😁

Tracking card recommendation

I've been looking for a decent tracking card to put in my wallet. Does anyone have a recommendation for one they use? I've been testing a cheap one from Amazon (£8) and whilst it works, I have to be really close and the Google Find Hub network did absolutely nothing in my tests.

A few more expensive ones I've seen are Nomad (recently released an Android version), Chipolo, UGreen and Tile. I'm happy to pay for one of the more expensive ones if it works well.

Also, am I right in saying that if it works properly, I should be able to see that my wallet is in restaurant 10 miles away? (Presumably using the Find Hub network)
