Are there more girls wanting to remain single nowadays?

Had a chat with a few of my colleagues recently, whom are all in their early 30s. They shared that they are doubtful about whether they will want to commit to a relationship and get married as they are quite happy with their current state of lives now. Is it a more common trend for girls to voluntarily stay single?

Is this common behaviour in the workplace?

Theres a male colleague in my department who will randomly text a female colleague in the same department, asking her random questions like where she went for lunch, what project she is doing etc regularly when they are not close. Is this common?
