Mere Cool Waters ko Baksh do!

Mere Cool Waters ko Baksh do!

More often than not I have noticed people bashing Cool Water right, left and center for smelling generic and lasting for a jiffy. This is not just about this subreddit but everyone mostly. It's true the Davidoff Cool Water EDT doesn't last, you'd be lucky if you get more than 4 hours on skin.

BUT what it does do though, it makes me feel GOOD, like real good and I can bet I am not alone. Given to the world by Pierre Bourdon in 1988, who also famously co created Creed's Green Irish Tweed. This is the quintessential aromatic aquatic freshie. The lavender in the top is just so soothing and relaxing and effortlessly elegant.

Whenever I go back home for a relaxing weekend, out of all my fragrances this is the one I always want to grab post a shower if I intend to sit at home and feel fresh, or go for a cheeky breakfast with my friends.

The soothing scent profile aside there's also a massive nostalgia association. Back in the grades when PCB used to be Science, I saw a Cool Water bottle at my friend's place who had reputation of a hoity toity lifestyle, his father was kind enough to let me catch a whiff, as a child who had never put his nose on anything but Dermi Cool BOY I was mesmerized, that's when the scent got ingrained. The other notable association would be the movie Shaurya, there's a moment when Kay Kay Menon mentions Davidoff Cool Water and I become that Leonardo di Caprio pointing at the screen lol. It was years and years of hoping to be capable enough to acquire a bottle and when it ultimately came down to it, my best friend, she beat me to it! I got a 200ml Bottle of Davidoff Cool Water as a gift. WOW. I consider myself a fulltime Davidoff glazer and I always will be.

This smells old, yeah no shit! It came out before my parents got married.. There are better long lasting alts, THERE ARE! But none of them are Davidoff Cool Water EDT. End of conversation.

The Cool Water Intense, a "beast mode" long lasting fragrance, yes! But it is not in the same realm as the EDT, not for better or worse it is just DIFFERENT. Created by Annick Menardo in 2019, this is a sweet citrusy coconut scent, the only thing common with the OG is the borrowed name. By itself it is good, I like it, you can clearly see that by the dent I have made in it over half a year. But is one replaceable by the other NO, they're unique in their own right.

Thoughts on this video by perfume guru.

De-bunks the whole maceration-maturation-settling dilemma in a very layman friendly language, I quite frankly loved the approach he had in this one. Towards the end he talks a bit about the community, acknowledges some of the prominent creators. He doesn't bash anyone directly and asks the viewers not to either as people have different perspectives and opinions. BUT he does point out what is wrong with the community but in a very vague, not pointing fingers at anyone kinda way, a very "politically safe" approach.

What's your opinion?

I personally enjoy Perfume Guru & Gyaan, gents scents, FBFragrances and The perfume reviewer.

ME Clones beyond 2700/- DON'T MAKE SENSE

As the title suggests, most ME brands make clones or clones with a twist, and kudos to them, some of them are really good! Most of my collection is them and I absolutely love it.

BUT! with the advent of the ongoing international situation, it may be a legit reason right now to jack up the prices but as the time passes, I'm afraid it'll become a convenient excuse for the prices to stay there and become a new baseline.

Unless the bottles are >100ml or it's an original creation(like teriaq intense) or it has exceptional quality/concentration-density(like atlas)..to me it makes zero sense to me to spend upwards of 2700-2800 on ME clones, kinda beats the whole point of their existence.

I'd much rather add a grand or two and get a designer tester bottle or even a partial for that matter.

I don't mind paying extra for better quality(actual or perceived) but I DO MIND paying extra for something which has no right to cost that much in the first place.

New bottles in, a brief impression. Issey Miyake and Davidoff.

Aah what an exciting time, here we go!

  1. Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme Intense

My previous post was quite clear about how gaga I am over the original L'Eau, well this takes that and mellows the yuzu down a bit and adds a twist of incense. A flanker in the truest of sense. Isn't a monster, isn't supposed to be. Love it!

  1. Davidoff The Game

Is this a re release or the same release but with a different bottle..I DON'T KNOW! But when I sniffed this one at a store and took a look at the notes this was the only frag with iris that sat well with me, not many cheap ones do and the expensive ones(at the moment) I can't justify just yet. The notes are Juniper Berries, Iris and Woods..and honestly I get the berries and the woods, can't put my finger on the iris, maybe that's why I like it. I'll need to take some time with this one. But it's a davidoff, I have an emotional bias towards it and I like it!

  1. Lattafa Asad

Who doesn't know this one, an absolute powerhouse of a fragrance still, the new flankers(bourbon IMO) has outdone this but still this one sits the best with me. What can I say aSAD makes me aHAPPY(that sounds hilarious in my head). Fresh pepper, projects like none's business and as it dries down a sweet vanilla makes its way out, not the biggest vanilla fan here but the first 4 hours of this scent makes it well worth it for me.

My favourite pick out the bunch? The Issey Miyake without a doubt, subtle, pleasant and just a little complex, banger!

Thank you for reading, do share your opinions, new hauls and recommendations if any!

Issey Miyake and a aquatic connection!

Got these Issey Miyake decants 2 weeks ago, after letting them settle down for 2 days they went straight on skin because I was psyched to try Le sel and re-try L'Eau(had a decant a few years ago).

  1. Issey Miyake Le Sel d'Issey EDT

Oh man! The sea just hit me! So so good, it kinda felt familiar to something that I already had my nose on but couldn't remember what was it. As it settled and between a few Sniffs I REMEMBERED but we'll get to that soon. As for Le Sel u complicated aquatic scent, so simple, so linear with such pleasant notes. I felt relaxed throughout. The woodsy base clinged to my skin till the end of 6ish hrs, simply lovely!

  1. Kenzo homme EDT intense

THIS is the one that Le Sel reminded me of! I had this decant for a couple of months now, so the next day both of them went on my arms, intense side by side was done. Both of them have that very clear ocean-y sea notes. But Kenzo takes a aromatic-spicy route in the dry down and the Le sel stays on the aquatic not too salty side. The WOODS is where they felt quite similar especially towards the their respective ends. Got me curious to do a bit research and what I find?! Both of them are made by Master Perfumer Quentin Bisch! Truly Fascinating!.

  1. Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour homme

It was like meeting an old friend with this one, the yuzu is so welcoming and as it sits for a while on your skin the florals make their way and right with them I sense that glorious subtle vetiver and it just sits with me. What a masterpiece and easily my favourite of the bunch!

Really makes me happy that three fragrances with rather simple notes and linear development can be so entertaining.

Hello Everyone!

I am in the market for my first automatic watch and I really want it to be this, The Seiko SRPD53K1.

I have looked at their official websites, amazon, ethos, just in time, etc. MRP is set at 30K and most sites offering this at MRP or at a discount of 3K.

The cheapest one was at ethos, I managed to get the sales guy down to 26K.

My questions are:

A. Are there better deals out there?

B. Who/Which sites/platforms to trust?

C. Red flags to look out for(For my case and in general, I look forward to making more such purchases in the future).

D. Tips for first time automatic watch buyers.

E. Any other recommendations?

Please help a brother out, Thank you so much!
