Does anyone in DFW have any daphnia magna I can buy?

I bought some daphnia from a seller I trust on eBay, but they were all DOA. This isn’t normally the case with this seller, so I’m worried it might be too late in the year to order anything alive online. If anyone’s got a daphnia culture they’re willing to share, as well as tips for keeping them alive on a spirulina/astaxanthin diet (I don’t really have room for a huge algae culture, and my daphnia tank is only 2 gal), then please let me know!! I’m located in Lewisville and I’m able to drive!!

Hey, mods!! Please please please make a pinned care guide in this sub!!

I got my first air plant recently, and I was scrolling this subreddit for tips and I found out about soaking!! Great!! But then… my poor little plant got rot and passed because I didn’t know you’re supposed to dry them upside down after soaking 😭 I took it completely apart to see if there was any salvaging, but sadly it was rotten to the very core. I just found that out tonight, and I’m gutted!!

Having a comprehensive care guide for this sub would make things so much easier for people just starting out!! Like, when I started stretching my ears, for example, the stretched ear sub has a guide that was so so valuable to my journey!! Or when I followed a bunch of pet subreddits, I found out so much about their care!! Like I found out that hamsters live better in huge tanks than tiny cages, and I never knew that before!! Or when I joined the betta fish subreddit, I found out that the food I was feeding my fish wasn’t high enough in protein!!

I dunno, I just feel like this sub could be an AMAZING resource for beginners and could lead to a lot less disappointment when a newbie inevitably drowns or dehydrates their little friend!!!

My heirloom pink sapphire 💖

It’s got some windowing going on (I’m wearing green rn and the center of the gem looks green too), but I don’t care. It used to belong to my dad’s late stepdad, my Nanu, as a tie tack. My Nani, my grandmother (his wife), had it put into a necklace for me. (She thought it was just costume jewelry and nearly pitched it, but her current husband convinced her to get it appraised first, and here we are!!) It’s the only thing I really have of my Nanu besides some silk flowers from his funeral (he passed when I was less than a month away from turning three), so this is super special to me.

It was collecting dust in the safety deposit box for like 10+ years because I was so afraid of losing it, but someone here encouraged me to get it out and wear it with pride since it deserves to be seen, so here we are!!

I decided that since it’s one of the few things I have left of my Nanu, he’d appreciate me wearing it instead of hiding it away where it can’t be admired properly.

My Nanu was an absolutely incredible man. He was a brilliant businessman, owning many of his own businesses in the Omaha, NE area. He was a man with many connections, and he was beloved in his community. He lived in the moment and didn’t hoard his money away— he used it while he was here on earth since he knew he couldn’t take it with him (a lesson I think a lot of people could benefit from), which allowed him and my Nani to live a comfortable and happy life together. He had two biological daughters from his first marriage, as well as helping raise my Nani’s three kids from her previous marriage. He passed from leukemia, but even until the very end, the two of us had a special bond. I don’t remember much about him since I was so small when he passed, but I do remember having tea parties with him and his little poodle Elmo, as well as working in coloring books with him, which was so so fun for little me! He was such an awesome guy, and I’m so grateful that I got to know him, even though I wish I had more time with him. We recently celebrated his 100th birthday, and I know that even though he’s not here in the physical world, he was smiling down on us. 💖

This is my brother and his dog Penny!! The first picture is the day he got her, and the second picture is today!! As you can see, Penny’s gotten a liiiiittle bigger during that timeframe 🤣

I’m at 9.5 mm right now!! I’m a bit worried that I’m thinning, but I was also pierced with a gun when I turned 7, so it could just be that they weren’t centered to begin with.

Tagging as NSFW bc it’s an ugly blowout, but look how much hemmorhoid cream worked in just one use!!! I blew out my ear sleeping on my plug wrong (I slept with them out last night don’t worry!!) and this is my results using hemmorhoid cream!!

First pic is the fresh blowout last night, second pic is after massaging, and third picture is today!! Still not pretty, but it’s a HUGE improvement!!! I have a feeling it’ll be a LOT easier to heal vs the last time this happened!! (Same ear, same cause, I just didn’t realize it was sleeping on my plugs causing it at the time.)

I just massaged with the cream again and popped the (downsized by 2mm from the previous size) plug back in, so hopefully it’ll keep improving!!
