I collect vintage Americana and items from historical events in US history. I’ve noticed national guardsmen wearing these ‘America 250’ patches and would love to see about getting one!
(If there are any guardsmen reading this) I’d love to meet and talk! I would be willing to pay as well. I think it’s important to document physical media like this, for all I know it’ll end up in a museum one day.

I recently got a set of 50s half-sleeves but they came with what looks like dried glue on their chests.
Does anyone know a safe method to remove the residue without damaging the fabric?
I’ve heard goo-gone would stain the fabric. In a different thread, someone suggested placing a paper towel over it and ironing it out. Has anyone tried this before with success?

I’ve recently bought my partner a dress from what I believe is either the late Victorian or early Edwardian period. I am struggling to understand however, what other articles of clothing are needed to complete the full outfit.
I am under the impression that I will need a petticoat underneath the skirt. But that is all I know! I see the chest is open, what article(s) are needed for under there? And what should I look out for?
I have also been told that this is a half/second mourning dress. Does that mean that the petticoat and all other component need to be black as well? Or could they be white or at least mixed with white?
