I had this exact sweatshirt as a kid and now I want to find one for my daughter. I have searched everywhere—google, reverse image searched, looked on different resale sites, but no luck. Not my picture!!! This picture was taken from a listing of an adult size that has sold and it seems to be the only picture on the internet. About this sweater: late 90s/early 2000s, fleece, embroidered!! I need to find it in any size, the smaller the better. HELP MEEE FIND AND ILL BE SO GRATEFUL!!!
I’ve been getting into designer brands this past year, decided I’d take a punt on a few bits here and there in the same way I did watches - which was try buy at a price I think I can at least make my money back if it’s not for me.
So far have a large vintage Cabourn jacket I love, a limited edition Cabourn rucksack jacket and now this.
Thing is I bought it as a small mens but it’s a size 14 150-55 - so a 14yo size. I’m conflicted as I think it’s super cool but obviously a bit small for me and unsure if I would make my money back trying to sell it later 😬
Found these at the thrift store. Wasn’t aware that element made selvedge denim. I tried searching and image searching but nothing comes up. Does anyone have any info on these?
Edit: found a tag that states the date of purchase as 2/9/65! I promise I looked briefly… it’s just so beautiful I was scared to dig around
My mom just passed and we’re going through her things. I know this is an ostrich feather dress she had been wanting me to try on, her mother bought it for her that never fit but I’m not sure when in her own life my grandmother bought it. So I’m thinking anywhere from 50’s to 90’s. I’m definitely keeping it, and as someone who knows very little about vintage fashion I’m just curious when this might be from! Thanks :)
What are your favorite vintage brands (and era if they were only good for a certain time period)? I’ve been dressing in predominantly vintage clothing outside of work and loungewear for several years now. Besides loving the fashion of previous decades (especially 60s, 70s, & 90s), another reason I thrift is for sustainability reasons and very rarely buy even modern clothing that is not secondhand.
The problem is a lot of my clothing especially from the 70s is made with uncomfortable materials (polyester especially). While it’s ok depending on the occasion, I walk everywhere and just cannot stand how sweaty and gross these unbreathable materials are. My mission now is to shop only for natural materials, such as cotton and linen. Additionally I’m hoping to find items that will hold ip to regular wear and also not require dry cleaning. Are there certain brands that you find reliable in these factors? Thanks in advance!
Edit to add: I personally don’t wear wool and silk due to my vegan lifestyle but support others purchasing it secondhand to reduce the demand knowing they (wool especially) are generally durable and eco-friendly options.
Got this from a vintage store here in UK not sure how to tell if it’s fake. looks legit. and guessing it’s from late 90s as burberrys dropped the s
This was my dad's shirt that my mom said he had when they married in 1989 and I was wondering if it's worth anything. It's in good condition, I wear it sometimes still. Google said it's from the 70s I'm not about the specifics other than that.
Found this beauty and couldn't leave it behind. The structured shoulders, the gathered chest, the way it moves — they simply don't make them like this anymore.
Leather gloves vintage too. Full commitment.
Hello everyone!
I’m not new to thrifting, but I am new to vintage! I found this beautiful dress in a second hand shop and I’m trying to date it, but I can’t find any information on it. I was only able to figure out the brand was German (I think), but can’t tell anything from the labels. I looked up the RN number on a calculator which said the estimated age was 1977, but I’m not sure if I trust that….
So I’m leaving it to the people who know more than me :D either way, I love this dress and I’m definitely gonna be wearing it!
Ralph Lauren sterling silver belt
Hello to everyone would like to have more info about this Ralph Lauren sterling silver mesh belt I have I believe is from the 80s and would like to know what it could be worth thanks in advance 🙏🏻
I took this home with the option to take it back if I changed my mind but the red trim really stood out to me. I don't know much about Midwestern fashion, and I am guessing by the tag that it dates to the 1980s or 1990s. It is missing a single button detail on the arm. Can anyone share info about it? Maybe what region it came from, what decade, and approximate value?
Recently found this dress in an old chest that reeked of moth balls. It was mixed in with items from the 20s - 40s but this seems older maybe late 1800s or early 1900s?
It’s seemingly handmade. No tag whatsoever anywhere. I sew myself and the stitching doesn’t look like machine but hand done in some places. I’m unsure about lace so I can’t say whether it’s machine or not.
The front is most interesting to me for how old it seems — it has 3 different ties starting from the lace at the top, right below that, and a third just below the breasts. I love it and it fits beautifully. The tan looking fabric is supposed to be white I think.
All photos I search are not the same and I’m having trouble finding another open front dress similar to this. Maybe a personal project?
How to go about fixing the tear in the skirt portion? + the second tie is difficult to pull through and almost feels like it may need replacement to function… doable?
Any advice welcome!
Found these vintage Gucci GG2196/S sunglasses for in a charity shop – authentic or an excellent fake? I paid 50p for them as they had no price on and the cashier just guessed a price as Bric a Brac.
I picked these up today in a UK charity shop for 50p, fully expecting them to be fake. However, after researching them, I'm now not so sure. They're marked: GG2196/S 02Y (or 2Y7 depending on how it's read) 56□16 145 Made in Italy CE I've found the exact same model listed by multiple vintage eyewear sellers (1stDibs, Sammy & Nino's, Noir Online and eBay),and the following all seem to match:
Interlocking GG metal logo on the temples Hinge design Temple shape Wire core inside the acetate Frame shape Model number and sizing Tortoiseshell pattern
The only thing making me question them is there's a small printed slash/backslash immediately before the GUCCI stamp on one inside arm. None of the online examples I've found appear to have this mark. Someone suggested it could be a pad-printing registration mark or a minor manufacturing variation from the 1990s rather than an intentional character, but I haven't been able to find another pair the same. I've attached close-ups of:
Both inside arms The markings The bridge Hinges Front of the frame GG logos
Does anyone here own this exact model or know whether that little mark is a known production variation? Or does it point towards them being counterfeit? If these are counterfeit, they're an incredibly convincing copy of what seems to be quite an obscure mid-1990s model, so I'm really interested in hearing from anyone who owns this exact reference or has experience authenticating vintage Gucci eyewear.
For 50p, I love them either way, but would be magical if they were real - no intention to sell.
Thanks!
Hello to everyone I would like to know the year and possible value of this pair of corduroy Levi’s pants thanks in advance 🙏🏻
I don't condone fur (and ethically cannot try it on), but I did have to photograph the leopard coat I mentioned in my last post. Given this is the closest I'll ever get to petting a real jaguar, I felt a deep mix between awe and sadness
touching it. I don't know the decade or price, before anyone asks. It really speaks to how fashion has changed over the decades -- did fur start to phase out in the 60s when the conservation movement began to take on cultural significance? Or was it more that the role of women changed (more independent, less trophy wives)?
