Hear me out before you crucify me.

I don't know if this was intentional by Matt, but the dungeon was built by an AI, and it's accuracy is always... lacking.

It's always lacking in an uncanny valley way. As carl says "It's like someone read a few reddit posts and filled in the blanks", which let's be honest, is how AI programs work. They skim the internet and fill in the blanks.

The dungeon wasn't really made by aliens, it was made by an AI using a prompt over the span of a few seconds. Our culture was parodied and mismatched with different cultures and ideas.

I'm re-reading book 6, and I feel like Sister Ines says it best when she lashes out at the blasphemy of the dungeon. To paraphrase: "It doesn't understand the meaning behind the stories. The greater purpose in our cultures. It doesn't even try to understand the things it's mimicking."

It's also shown through out the entire book. During floor 4, it only shows images of the worst components of trains. Floor 5 is also shitting on earth culture through poorly made parody.

If this book was written in 2025 or later, I really believe everyone would have immediately picked up on that, but with the first book being released in 2020 it's incredible how accurately Matt predicted generative AI.

In your opinion what's the best aspect of the 40k setting depicted in these games?

[WP] The wars are over. First they removed those who served, replaced by automated systems. Then they replaced those who created. They tore down the infrastructure needed for those old times. Now there aren't enough to self replace. The powerful are gone too. All that remains are those they made.
