So a 24-year-old Sri Lankan man, Sivarasa Anojan, has been sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia over a social media post that was considered insulting to Islam/the Prophet Muhammad.

It is insane that he was apparently initially given 5 years in prison and a huge fine, and then after the prosecution appealed, the sentence was increased to death.

Sri Lanka is now trying to appeal the sentence and get clemency for him. Like imagine posting something that offends a religion and the punishment being execution.

You can believe whatever you want, but religious beliefs shouldn’t be protected by literally killing people who criticize or insult them.
