Hi all,

I’m an ICU nurse that has been wanting to pursue paramedicine for a while. I can’t seem to shake the urge to pursue the profession. I enjoy working in the ICU and caring for critical patients but there’s not of nuances in nursing which I do not enjoy. I have the opportunity to work a lot of overtime which has been great financially. I’m not interested in pursuing N in the future.

I was wondering if anyone else had made a similar decision and also wanted to hear what others think about this decision. Is there something I’m not considering or should know before making this decision.

I would still work casually as a nurse and understand later down the road nursing would offer me the opportunity to find a less demanding job.

I know that I’m jumping the gun but I think eventually I’d love the role of CCP. Of course I understand this may change when I get into the profession but I was also hoping to hear from ACPs and CCPs about their roles and responsibilities. What they enjoy and dislike about the position? What does the day to day look like and would you change it for anything else? Do you find the compensation to be fair?

I also know that this is different everywhere but I wanted to hear from people’s experience if they find they have a supportive workplace? Do you get along with coworkers and have you been able to make friends at work as well?

I’m looking into applying at SAIT for the January 2027 semester and wanted to head about others experiences with the program? How is the format in January, I read that it was a blended model? How are the instructors and what does classroom and lab time look like? How big are the classes and how are assessments completed typically? Are you enjoying the EMS profession and would you recommend this path? Any information you can give me would be appreciated.
