June traditions in Ceará, Brazil
I live in the state of Ceará, in northeastern Brazil, where Festa Junina is still one of the most important traditions of the year. Throughout June, families and friends gather to light bonfires, enjoy traditional food, and decorate the streets with colorful flags.
These photos were taken during the last bonfire gathering of the month. Since the FIFA World Cup is also taking place, Brazilian flags became part of the decorations alongside the traditional Festa Junina flags. I thought it would be a great opportunity to capture this unique atmosphere and share a small part of my region’s culture.
